David for Model Number Samsung RFG297AARS/XAA refrigerator My refrigerator was manufactured in 12/2009 - I have used the bypass insert since the day we purchased it as we have pre-filtered water already. No leaks until today. I could swear the leak is above the housing on the top interior wall of the refrigerator, but I can tell it is leaking around the housing as well, (difficult to pinpoint). I am going to buy the new water filter housing and assembly and hope that solves this leak. For now, the water is turned off to the refrigerator and the leak has stopped. Is there any way or anything that really could be leaking from the upper wall above the housing or is that just condensation fooling me a bit? I just don't believe there is any water tubing above that which would cause a leak or appear to be a leak. I'm not even sure why the housing would leak now after all this time unless sediment/particles are in the line and causing a plug now. Thanks
Answer Hello David, Your issue sounds like it will be the filter housing. You should check the temperature in the fresh food compartment since most of the time a leak is caused by the assembly getting too cold and cracking. It is not going to be caused by sedimentations or mineral deposits in this part of the system. The water valve is normally the only part affected by these factors. Read More...
