Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Dispenser Door Assembly (Part Number: OEM13349286)

Ek for Model Number RSG257AARS-XAA

Samsung refrigerator originally getting dripping water from ice shoot, due to ice build-up in shoot. Also getting frost build up in ice bucket. Although flapper was opening and closing thought it may be due to spring and flapper not having good seal. Tried sealing up bottom of ice bucket and top of ice shoot to see if sealing off area would solve problem and it initially worked but then got ice build up again in shoot and frost in ice bucket so I was uncertain if changing out just the flapper or entire ice assembly would help. Then an odd thing happened, and water started to randomly shoot out of the water dispenser and no one around. Luckily I caught it doing this, cleaned up the mess and put the child lock on to prohibit it from doing this. If I take it off child lock I can get water, but occasionally it just randomly turns on. I put on a new filter and purged the line because some people said that low pressure due to an old filter can cause issue, but it did not seem to solve the problem. I can have the child lock off for hours with no issues but because I am uncertain of the cause I put the child lock back on when I go to bed or leave house. I was uncertain if I changed out Ice Chute Assembly which supposedly has the flapper and a water and ice sensor (DA97-06473B) if it would solve all my issues or if its an electrical issue or problem with mother board. Called Samsung and they said they never heard of the problem and only a few people on the internet have reported a similar issue but no solutions. Any suggestion would be appreciated

EK, Based on the information provided the ice build-up would be from an air leak, and the random dispensing could be from a pressure issue or a dispenser board issue.

Carlos, With the ice door opening and closing all the time, this would most likely be an issue with the main control board.

Bharat, You will want to test to see if there is power getting to the auger motor. If there is power to the auger motor but it is not turning then the auger motor would need to be replaced. If there is no power then the issue will most likely be in the dispenser control board.

EK, with the ice bin removed and the door switch pressed in, the ice dispenser will need to be engaged in the cubed ice selection while observing the arm actuator of the auger assembly DA97-11095E. If the arm actuator activates, then the ice bin will need to be inspected for any obstructions that would prevent the arm from being activated to allow cubed ice to pass. In regards to the chute door flap DA97-00883E, the ice case assembly DA97-06473B would be the most likely cause. The cam DA66-00309A can be inspected for any failures, but if the cam motor is not closing fully, then the entire assembly would need to be replaced.

Hello Willard, This is most likely an issue with the cycling thermostat in the icemaker assembly DA97-07549B. The only other thing that could cause this complaint is a temperature issue inside the appliance.

Vladimir, To remove the front cover of the dispenser you will remove a screw that is located at the bottom of the display (if there is one there). You then grab the bottom of the cover and pull straight out.
