Jason July 24, 2022 for Model Number RS261MDRS/XAA Our refrigerator started freezing everything on the fridge side a few weeks ago. I was told that the main control board may be bad. None of the vents are blocked. Also, the fans are operating as well. What could be the issue?
1 Answer Jason, You will want to check your evaporator coil in freezer compartment and make sure that the evaporator is not iced up. If it is then test the defrost sensor to make sure that it is good and the defrost heater. If these are good then check to ensure that the damper that is in the refrigerator compartment is not stuck open and will open and close. If the damper is good then it will most likely be the main control board that is the issue but if the damper is not working then replace the damper. Read More...
Phil February 19, 2022 for Model Number RS261MDRS Samsung Refrigerator RS261MDRS. Control panel will not switch to water, but will switch to different types of ice. It used to work by opening the freezer door to just the right position. I tried to replace the touch control panel with a used one from eBay but it didn't work. Can you send me a tech sheet to test the main control board or make a recommendation? Thanks, Stan
1 Answer Phil, the user interface not responding to input at the water selection would indicate a failed interface. However, the REV number would be necessary to ensure that the correct control is identified. Read More...
Big Willie June 08, 2021 for Model Number Samsung RS261MDRS My ice and water dispenser quit working about 8 months ago. The refrigerator and freezer have functioned as normal all this time. I replaced the two switches inside the water/ice lever. Didn't help. Recently, I had a tech come in to fix this issue. They were unable to do the repair. They suggested that I replace the computer board. After the tech guy left my house, my freezer and refrigerator have quit working. I lost all my food plus diabetes medications. The tech and his company are NOT taking any responsibility for this. Would replacing this computer board solve all my issues; ice & water dispenser, freezer, refrigerator? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Big Willie, The mainboard that the technician had to have been bad to make the unit stop operating. I would replace it before going forward with any other repairs. Let the unit run for 24 hours and verify proper temperatures and then look at the dispense issues. Read More...
Bruce B. January 16, 2021 for Model Number Samsung RS261MDWP Hello, Our freezer is frosting up and I have replaced the heating element and the main sensor so far with no luck fixing the problem. What would the next logical attempt at fixing this freezer be as far as trying new parts on a ten year old fridge? Thanks for your help Bruce
1 Answer Bruce, check the DA47-00301D Thermal fuse for a "closed" circuit with a multimeter. If the fuse checks OK, check for any loose or corroded connections and wires at the rear wall then replace the DA41-00669A Main Power Control, Board if all checks OK. Thanks, Read More...
Linda P February 04, 2020 for Model Number RS261MDRS Samsung Refrigerator intermittently fails to cool. Temperatures typically range between 36-40 but occasionally go as high as 48. All fans seem to be operational and the coils are clean. (You can hear the defrost fan running) freezer remains around 3 degrees.
1 Answer Linda, Some of these models have defrost issues and they do not clear the ice built up in the defrost allotted time. We will send you a service sheet on how to address this issue. Its simply moving a sensor to a different refrigerant line to allow a longer defrost. When ice is present in the coils the airflow suffers and reults in warmer temps. Read More...
Walter Hurd October 21, 2018 for Model Number RS261MDRS/XAA The ice maker will fill with water but isn't cycling. You can press the button and it will dump and refill but that all. Plus in the freezer side, when the fan comes on sounds like the fan is hitting ice.
1 Answer Walter, You will want to check the fan for ice build up around it. If there is then clear the ice and check for air leaks that could cause air to get into the freezer. For the icemaker not cycling then check to make sure that the freezer temperature for between 0 and 5 degrees and if it checks ok then the icemaker would be the issue. Read More...
Robert September 09, 2018 for Model Number RS261MDBP/XAA About 2 years ago some of the led lights went out on the control panel. 6 months ago it stopped dispensing ice. A couple days ago it stopped dispensing water. Should i replace the panel PCP?
1 Answer Robert, I can send you a tech sheet to check voltages from the main control. It is clear what to test for. If voltages test good from board then your user interface is most likely the cause. Read More...

Tucker February 20, 2016 for Model Number RS261MDBP/XAA The refrigerator lost power. The wall socket was still good, so I replaced the main PCB. Refrigerator turned back on, and all was well.. for about 12 hours, then we're back to no power again. No lights inside, no hum, no display, no cooling.. no power anywhere i've looked. What could be blowing the main PCB out like that?
1 Answer Tucker, The first thing that you will want to look at is the power supply to make sure that you only have 120 vac +/- 10% at the wall outlet. If this checks ok then check the power supply cord to make sure that there is no damaged to it and check the heaters to make sure that they are not grounding out and causing failure of the control board.
