For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM16955274)

Josh for Model Number rf261beaesr/aa

The ice bin in the freezer keeps overfilling, so that each time the freezer is opened, ice cubes tumble into the bottom of the freezer and out onto the floor. I replaced the Ice Cub Bucket but that did not stop the issue. I see what appears to be the shutoff arm, but it sits way higher than it would seemingly need to actually hit ice beneath it. Do I need to replace the whole assembly? Or is there some sort of reset or calibration process? Thanks! Josh

1 Answer

Josh, Since we know the ice maker works the only thing that senses how much ice is in the bin is the arm that moves every time a new batch of ice is made and is not able to be ordered by itself, the whole ice maker would need to be replaced. DA97-07603B

Teresa, Unfortunately, the sensor that tells the unit to dump ice is not available as a separate part and will need to replace the icemaker for this issue.

Dave, The issue would be the motor of the ice maker. We know everything works as it should meaning power and water. You would need to order part DA97-07603B

Dave, you may want to test the temperature in comparison to what is being displayed. If the temperature of the freezer section is not below 15 degrees Fahrenheit, then the ice maker will not automatically enter a harvest cycle. If the temperature is not correct, then the thermistor will need to be tested to verify that the resistance reading matches the actual temperature of the cabin. If the resistance checks good when compared to the actual temperature, then the most likely issue would be the main control. If the resistance does not match the actual temperature, then the thermistor would be the issue.

Robert for Model Number RFG238AARS/XAA

The bottom ice maker (DA97-07603A) for my Samsung refrigerator inside the freezer won’t fill with water. When I push the reset button on the bottom of the unit, it goes through the entire cycle just fine, but the water never fills the ice tray. I’m thinking the water valve may be defective or there might be a little heater somewhere in there to keep the water from freezing in the water line. Where is the water valve located and where is the little heater? Thanks in advance for your answer. Robert

1 Answer

Robert, you may want to check the fill tube DA97-00209T that sits above the icemaker for signs of ice blockage. If there is an ice blockage, then you will want to test it for resistance. The fill tube heater should read around 72 ohms. If there is not an ice blockage, then the water valve DA97-07695A located in the compressor compartment most likely has failed.

Mac, as there are different revision numbers for this model, the REV number would need to be verified to ensure the most accurate information is provided. If you could provide the model number and the REV number in a new inquiry, this will allow for the best information possible.
