Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM16955274)

Scott, when the reset button is pressed on the ice maker, the water valve would need to be tested from the brown wire to the grey wire for 120VAC as the ice maker finishes the harvest cycle. If there is 120VAC, the valve has failed in the tank assembly DA97-12668A. If there isn't 120VAC, then the ice maker DA97-07603B has failed.

Kate for Model Number RF217ACPN/XAA

I just received this part to replace my icemaker. I got the old one out, no problem. I plugged the new one in but I cannot get the unit to slide into the brackets/knobs that are hanging down towards the back of the freezer. It appears there is some kind of yellow hard substance around the top of them. Do I try to remove this? I don't want to damage anything. I can't figure why else it won't slide in to the brackets. The part is identical to the original. Thank you.

1 Answer

Kate, the yellow substance is going to be insulation. This insulation can be carefully cut flush to assist with allowing the ice maker to set onto the mounting brackets. However, when installing the ice maker, ensuring the ice maker is as far forward as possible before pushing back can help with installation rather than removing any insulation.

Cindi, the fill tube will need to be inspected for an ice build-up. If there is ice, the valve water filter housing DA97-11435A would need to be changed out and the ice cleared. If there is not ice, then it is likely that the ice maker DA97-07603B is not sending the proper signal to the main control to activate the valves.

Hello Alan, if the display panel shows the ice maker is set to "ON" and the freezer temp is at 0 deg and there is no ice-making but pressing the test button will cycle the ice maker and it does dump and refill then replace the ice maker DA97-07603B.

Chris, You probably won't need the "entire assembly", but may need the DA63-02284B / DA63-02284B Ice Cube Tray after you do some "basic" checks. The ice maker, check to make sure the cube tray sensor and wires are properly attached to the tray and housing. Check and make sure all the doors close and seal properly, test cycle the ice maker and make sure the tray fills properly (each cube compartment should be at least 3/4 full) Then check for a consistent freezer temp. (+3 to -3 dgrs.F.) Here's some additional information "When all ice shatters, it's because of a bad tray or ice cube temp that is too cold (lower than -5 degrees). In some areas, there are water issues that can also cause shattered cubes. The temp in the freezer should not have any effect on this issue, as long as it’s below 1.5 degrees F, as a properly installed sensor will not read the freezer temp, only the water/ice temp. Check the Ice tray for defects in the plastic. Ice that is too cold will shatter during harvest. This can be from the (1) sensor not read-ing the correct temp (2) or the sensor not mounted correctly. Please note, some shattering is normal for a flex tray icemaker" If all checks are OK then replace the assembly.

Andy for Model Number RM255BARB

My Icemaker works but the 1/4" water line in the back of the refrigerator developed a pinhole leak. Plumber friend said the rest of the line will likely develop leaks as well and entire line should be replaced. I noticed part #AP5651731 seems to include the line in question. Is that the correct solution or is there another? Or, is there a way to cut out the leaking pinhole and replace it with a connector line as this is the only problem i currently have? If so, can I order a new line to replace the current one? Thanks.

Seth, There should be a foam block and plastic cover that will go over the sensor and it should be attached to the bottom of the tray on the second or 3rd row from the front of the icemaker.

Jason, If the ice maker will not cycle when you push the test button then the issue will either be the icemaker or the main control board. If you have already replaced the ice maker then the mainboard will need to be replaced.
