Scott March 05, 2020 for Model Number rf323tedbsr/aa My freezer ice maker doesn't work. I push the reset button and it makes the noise, the tray turns one way then back, and the bell dings, but nothing else happens. I unplugged it for 30 minutes and thawed out the freezer and tried again. SAME-THING. Do we need a new ice maker? If so what is the part number? So many are listed. Water comes out the front dispenser and the TOP refrigerator makes ice. Please help.
1 Answer Scott, when the reset button is pressed on the ice maker, the water valve would need to be tested from the brown wire to the grey wire for 120VAC as the ice maker finishes the harvest cycle. If there is 120VAC, the valve has failed in the tank assembly DA97-12668A. If there isn't 120VAC, then the ice maker DA97-07603B has failed. Read More...
Kate February 09, 2020 for Model Number RF217ACPN/XAA I just received this part to replace my icemaker. I got the old one out, no problem. I plugged the new one in but I cannot get the unit to slide into the brackets/knobs that are hanging down towards the back of the freezer. It appears there is some kind of yellow hard substance around the top of them. Do I try to remove this? I don't want to damage anything. I can't figure why else it won't slide in to the brackets. The part is identical to the original. Thank you.
1 Answer Kate, the yellow substance is going to be insulation. This insulation can be carefully cut flush to assist with allowing the ice maker to set onto the mounting brackets. However, when installing the ice maker, ensuring the ice maker is as far forward as possible before pushing back can help with installation rather than removing any insulation. Read More...
Cindi February 01, 2020 for Model Number RFG298HDWP/XAA My freezer ice maker doesn't work. I push the reset button and it makes the noise and the bell dings, but nothing else happens. Do we need a new ice maker? If so what is the part number? thank you
1 Answer Cindi, the fill tube will need to be inspected for an ice build-up. If there is ice, the valve water filter housing DA97-11435A would need to be changed out and the ice cleared. If there is not ice, then it is likely that the ice maker DA97-07603B is not sending the proper signal to the main control to activate the valves. Read More...
Alan January 20, 2020 for Model Number RF28HFEDTSR/AA Bottom ice maker with make ice but will only dump if I push the reset button. Is it most likely just a sensor that needs to be replaced or the whole ice maker assembly. Thank you, Alan
1 Answer Hello Alan, if the display panel shows the ice maker is set to "ON" and the freezer temp is at 0 deg and there is no ice-making but pressing the test button will cycle the ice maker and it does dump and refill then replace the ice maker DA97-07603B. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Janet, yes the freezer door can be removed, just remove any screws on the inner door brackets to the side rails, and lift the freezer door off. Read More...
Chris January 06, 2020 for Model Number RF217ACRS/XAA Ice maker cycles regularly but ice rarely ever gets dumped in full cubes; instead I constantly have a bucket of crushed ice and ice shavings build up in the bottom half of the bucket. Removed the assembly and cleaned the ice tray thoroughly but still experience same issue. What could be the potential root causes for this? Should I be looking to replace the entire assembly? TIA
1 Answer Chris, You probably won't need the "entire assembly", but may need the DA63-02284B / DA63-02284B Ice Cube Tray after you do some "basic" checks. The ice maker, check to make sure the cube tray sensor and wires are properly attached to the tray and housing. Check and make sure all the doors close and seal properly, test cycle the ice maker and make sure the tray fills properly (each cube compartment should be at least 3/4 full) Then check for a consistent freezer temp. (+3 to -3 dgrs.F.) Here's some additional information "When all ice shatters, it's because of a bad tray or ice cube temp that is too cold (lower than -5 degrees). In some areas, there are water issues that can also cause shattered cubes. The temp in the freezer should not have any effect on this issue, as long as it’s below 1.5 degrees F, as a properly installed sensor will not read the freezer temp, only the water/ice temp. Check the Ice tray for defects in the plastic. Ice that is too cold will shatter during harvest. This can be from the (1) sensor not read-ing the correct temp (2) or the sensor not mounted correctly. Please note, some shattering is normal for a flex tray icemaker" If all checks are OK then replace the assembly. Read More...
Andy December 07, 2019 for Model Number RM255BARB My Icemaker works but the 1/4" water line in the back of the refrigerator developed a pinhole leak. Plumber friend said the rest of the line will likely develop leaks as well and entire line should be replaced. I noticed part #AP5651731 seems to include the line in question. Is that the correct solution or is there another? Or, is there a way to cut out the leaking pinhole and replace it with a connector line as this is the only problem i currently have? If so, can I order a new line to replace the current one? Thanks.
Seth November 27, 2019 for Model Number RF265ABBP The sensor cable for the ice maker is dangling freely. Where is the sensor tip supposed to be placed?
1 Answer Seth, There should be a foam block and plastic cover that will go over the sensor and it should be attached to the bottom of the tray on the second or 3rd row from the front of the icemaker. Read More...
Jason November 11, 2019 for Model Number RF28HFEDTSR/AA Freezer drawer ice maker stopped dispensing ice. Test switch would not cycle the dispenser. Replaced dispenser (DA97-07603B), but still does not work. New dispenser will not cycle when test switch is pushed. Thoughts?
1 Answer Jason, If the ice maker will not cycle when you push the test button then the issue will either be the icemaker or the main control board. If you have already replaced the ice maker then the mainboard will need to be replaced. Read More...
Dave Stacy October 30, 2019 for Model Number RFG298AABP/XAA My Ice Maker assembly in the freezer broke and is hanging down so I can't easily open my freezer door. I've Ordered part number AP5651755 but the actual part number is AP5651731. Will the part I ordered ending in 755 work or do I need to order the other one ending in 731. Also can I remove the old Ice maker so I can still use my freezer until the new part comes in?
1 Answer Dave S., Based on the model number provided the part# DA97-07603B is the ice maker that is compatible with your unit. It is ok to remove the old icemaker until the new one arrives. Read More...
