Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator French Door Hinge (Part Number: OEM12424056)

Michael for Model Number RF217ACWP/XXA

I have removed the mullion from the fridge by removing the caps and then the screws holding the center hinge and then sliding the mullion up off its hinge clips. I need to remove the lower hinge to replace it. It will not (yet) slide down because there is a columnar object blocking its movement. Do I need to remove that columnar block (and if so how without damaging it) OR do I need to disassemble the entire mullion (and if so how to avoid damaging IT)? I'm not currently at home, but I can send you photos of the mullion if that will help you understand the physical reality of the situation.

1 Answer

Michael, You would have to disassembly the mullion by using a putty knife to separate the 2 halves to get the hinge off.

Steven, Screws MUST be removed from middle hinge (hidden with white, round, circular caps over screw heads in hinge (appears to be plastic studs but they're not). You must also remove white rectangular caps under top and bottom hinges (leave the middle hinge cap in place, no need to remove) and spring on lower hinge. When all caps and screws are removed "flap" assembly will slide up and out of hinges giving access to square upper hinge retaining block on door. Slide upper hinge down onto square block on door and reassemble "flap" assembly.
