For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM12955896)

Hello Len. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Fred, You would not need to push the test button to get the icemaker to cycle. It is recommended to allow 24 hours to see if it makes ice but may see ice within 5 to 6 hours.

Hello Wayne. According to Samsung, DA97-05554A is the correct icemaker. If you look on your old icemaker there should be a part number. You can use that number to cross check the parts. If it comes up with this number, then the manufacturer has changed it from a 9 to a 7 cube. Thanks.

Ken, If when pushing the ice lever to get ice the ice, if the ice is being crushed then it is normal for shavings to not make it into the cup if you do not hold the cup all the way up. If cubes are going all over the place then you would want to check to make sure that the funnel is in place.

Hello Nathaniel, I'm sorry but, the manufacturer supplies no replacement parts for the icemaker since they consider it an unserviceable part. For this reason, no training or documented information is supplied on the icemakers' dis-assembly or repair. If problems are encountered, it is recommended to replace the icemaker as an assembly.

Rodney, To check to see if water is getting into the icemaker you would need to feel to see if there is ice in the icemaker. There is also a test button on the side of the icemaker that will allow you to put the icemaker into a cycle. If there is no water to the icemaker then it could be that the water valve is faulty and would need to be replaced.
