After coming back from vacation I discovered the fridge has stopped working. All the contents of the fridge had to be disposed of (freezer and fridge). Now, we are dealing with the nasty smell. SYMPTOM (AC plugged in): - Fridge not running. - With ear on the fridge, I can hear a little continuous humming. - Fridge is not ‘kicking-in’ to start - Unplugged for five minutes and plugged back. - Unplugged for more than twenty-four hours, plugged back in and still not running. - At the same time, pressed and held the FREEZER TEMP and the FRIDGE TEMP button for some time, all panel lights started flashing, then set the freezer temperature to -4 degrees and the fridge to 34 degrees, and within one second, both temperatures changes to 73 and 63 respectively. SYMPTOM (AC unplugged): - About every twenty minutes, I can hear from the back of the fridge a “swooooching” sound that lasts for about one second. It sounds like the 18-wheeler’s brake air discharge (though not as loud as the truck’s). Just spoke with one of technicians and he was suspecting it could be the board. How about the relay also? Since it does not ‘start’, I guess the relay is ruled out. Yes, I read the other questions people posted and could not find one exactly like mine. Thanks.

Hello Jose, This does sound like a board issue. You should run the units' self-diagnostics to see what issue the board sees. If it brings up no fault codes, the board (AP4141293) will have to be replaced.

After a power outage the refrigerator portion of my side-by-side is not cooling. I got a error code of 22 E. I just had a repair person come out to my house and diagnosed a faulty main board is not sending a signal to the refrig. fan. He said I need to replace the main board. I did an internet search and found your site and the main board for my frig. I'd like to save some money and get a board from you and install it myself. It looks like everything just plugs in to the board. Is there anything else that would keep me from doing the replacement myself? Any special button pushes, etc. that need to be done after the board is replaced or can I just plug the frig back in and life will be good again? Thanks!

Joe, There is nothing that will keep you from replacing the main control board. The board is just unplug the old and plug in the new.

Hello Joe. If the compressor is running, and the unit is not cooling properly, then you have a sealed system issue and will need an HVAC tech to repair the unit.

Randy, To replace the main control board on your refrigerator you will need to pull the refrigerator out and disconnect the power. Once disconnected remove the lower cover in the back. On the right side of the unit there will be the casing that holds the main control board and will more than likely have the water valve screwed to it. Remove the valve and the screws holding the plastic casing in place. Once you pull it out, you will need to separate the housing to replace the board.

Kathy, Try to unplug unit for 10 minutes and then return power and see if it powers up. If not then it sounds like you may need a new control board.
