Chris, Thanks for the question!!! I show a different part number for your temperature sensor. I show DA32-00011D is the correct fresh food temperature sensor. Just for clarification, this sensor would be located in or on the evaporator cover assembly. Locate the tech sheet for your fridge, there is a chart that gives the ohms readings for these temperature sensors. If the ohms are correct on the sensors you most likely have a main control board failure.

Jim, The temperature sensor for the ice room will be located on the auger housing and will need to get part number DA96-00036W to get the sensor. The ice room fan part number will be DA31-00146B. To test the sensor you will go to the main control board on the back of the unit and look for the CN78 Connector. On this connector, you will test from the Orange wire at pin 10 to Pin 7 gray wire. There should be a resistance of approximately 29.3K ohms if the temperature is 0 degrees and at 32 degrees would be 13.2K ohms. For the fan, at the control board, you will test for 7 to 12 VDC on the CN76 Connector from pin 2 Black wire to pin 1 Gray wire.

Shelley Sommerfeld for Model Number RF4287HARS/XAA-0000

I ripped the freezer temperature sensor (located on the top of the freezer) off. The cover, the entire sensor (from sensor to plastic connection clip) and the other end of the clip with a portion of one red and one grey wire have come off. What are the grey and red wire? Do they go through the top of the freezer to the back wall (behind the back panel) where everything is plugged in? If so, what part do I need (the temperature sensor and cover are intact)? And once I remove the drawer, basket and back panel, how do I feed the grey & red wire part through to the roof of the freezer and out the hole for the sensor & cover, so I can connect them to the sensor?

1 Answer

Shelley, Unfortunately the wiring inside the cabinet would not be available. The wiring in the cabinet cannot be replaced but if you are able to solder the wires back together this would be the only way to get it to work.

Jim, The sensor is located behind the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment and you would need to test the thermistor to make sure that it has the proper resistance range.
