Robert, You will want to check to make sure that the evaporator coil in the refrigerator is not impacted with ice and causing the unit to not cool properly. If it is then you will want to Test the sensors DA47-00095E and see if they are around 5.5K at room temperature. If so, the sensors are working and you will need to replace the main control board on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Steve. Unplug the unit and let all the ice melt off. Or unplug and use hot water to melt the ice. This is more messy. Or, you can use a hair dryer to melt it, but be careful not to melt the liner.

Hello Bob. If the fan motor is running properly, it sounds like the sealed system is failing in the unit and you will need an HVAC tech to repair the unit. A ball of ice on the coils in the freezer will indicate this happening.

Chris for Model Number samsung SRS615DP side by side fridge freezer

Hi My unit cools and after the first defrost which by default is set at around four hours, the unit turns off and the Temp starts rising, until I unplugg from the wall socket and replug again it will run again and repeat as above. It seems that the heater stays ON or a sensor is not relaying the information for the motor to run again. There is no frost build up and it seems that water has not been present in the defrost tray for some time. Thank you for your Time Regards Chris

Hello Chris. Sounds like the main control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

My freezer was not going into defrost mode, and the repairman had manually defrosted the coils so it would cool while he got the parts in. He took so long I went ahead and ordered the two temperature sensors and changed them out myself. I changed out both temperature sensors, set the temperature to -2 and in the morning it was showing -8. I set it to +4 to see if it would stabilize but ever since the freezer temperature has been moving between -8 and +11 without changing the settings. I installed the sensors just like they were attached, the small one with the yellow cable with a tie wrap directly to the coil and the larger one laying vertical along the left side of the cooling coils. Do I have a faulty sensor or could the PCB be bad?

Hello Pat. It is normal for the unit to go up and down. Also, as the unit defrost, or pulls down, it will go above and below. It sounds like it is fine. The temps are not above freezing.

Eric for Model Number Samsung RB215LASH

My bottom freezer is not working properly. I noticed the ice was sticking and the food wasn't completely freezing. I cleaned the coils on the back of the fridge and removed the internal panels covering the freezer coils. The coils were iced over. I de-iced the coils and checked the fan for proper operation (works). After two weeks the problem came back. I did notice a 3" long crack on the internal plastic wall where the cooling lines come into the freezer 1/16 thick. Could this be my problem or do you think its a temp sensor issue?

1 Answer

Eric, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty defrost sensor. You will want to test the sensor and visually check it for being bad. If the sensor is bad or broken then replace. If the sensor checks ok then you will want to do a continuity test on the heater and if ok then replace the main control board.

Wanda for Model Number RS2530BBP

Frig side is not cooling properly, freezer is not freezing and does not produce ice when the weather is warm. The outside of the refrigerator side and back is hot to the touch. We unplugged it for a while and it is ok, still little ice and when that one tray falls it sound like hard ice build up. Sensors have never been replaced but we did have a professional to install a new fan a few years ago and that helped with the cooling but no ice for a few years. HELP

1 Answer

Hello Wanda. You need to clean the coils and make sure the condenser fan motor is running properly on the unit.
