Teresa B. for Model Number rm255barb

I have a 4 door samsung fridge that the main freezer door is not working properly. The ice maker is exteremly warm and not making ice. I can tell it's not cold enough yet the lower portion of freezer (same door compartment) is still cold and I can feel the cold air blowing. But the top half is not. There are 2 holes that push cold air through the freezer and the top two seem not to be blowing any air out, but the lower ones do, I can feel the cold air. As I examied the freezer, I moved the food away from the air holes and found the wire compartment cover was off a little bit and the wires may have been exposed to the cold air. What could be wrong with my fridge? Please help!!

Hello Teresa. You will need to check and see if the fan motors DA31-00020E and DA97-03114A in the freezer are running. There are two fan motors, one at the top and one at the bottom. If not, you will need to replace the bad fan motor. Hope this helps.

Hi Don. You Need to test the sensors at normal operating temperatures only. The sensor shuts off the heater @ 50 degrees in the freezer, and at 63 degrees in the fresh food.– If the sensor is bad it may shut off the defrost circuit in a few minutes or not start, causing ice build-up, or it could lock up in defrost mode and become a total no cool. Note: A defective sensor may check OK at room temperature, test at operating temperature only. The drain pan comes with a sensor, This part # is DA97-00195H. The refrigerator defrost temperature sensor is part # DA32-10105R. Thank youi .

Kev, At room temperature(75 dgrs F.), your thermistor should read 5.1k ohms. Your reading is way high. at 12.5k ohms the thermistor registers a temperature of 34 to 35 dgrsF. Sounds like a bad thermistor or bad/shorted wire to the main control board. Start with a new thermistor.DA32-10105R, Good Luck and Thanks
