1 Answer

Terri, They are not but there is a seal above that bolt to keep the water out. And there is no other option for that bolt listed by the manufacturer.

Kathy, The agitator bolt can be tightened until it no longer turns without force. Once it is snugly in place and does not rotate further, the bolt should hold firmly.

Colleen, a screw removal drill bit would be needed to be used to get the bolt out if there is not enough of the bolt to grab onto with a vise grip plier.

Hello Scott, The only way you may be able to remove the agitator bolt in this condition is by using an impact driver. If this is unsuccessful you may have to cut the agitator out with a Dremel tool or the like so you can grasp the agitator shaft of the gearcase. You will then most likely have to change the gearcase assembly W11454741.

Rod Schaeffer, typically, the top part of the agitator will separate from the bottom part, the bolt holds the bottom half of the agitator to the gear case shaft. Take the bolt out and remove the agitator, stand on the bottom part and pull the upper section of the agitator off. You should be able to replace the dogs. When you put the upper section back on, notice there are 4 slots that match up with bottom section, it should snap back into place and you can re-install the agitator assembly.

Hello Gloria, The washer will help hold the bolt in place but it should also be tightened to about 15-inch pounds of torque.

Beezy for Model Number LSR5100KQ0

I recently replaced my drive block on my whirpool washing machine. I have everything put back in place almost up until it comes time to put the agitator back in. The bolt that holds it in now just spins and spins..refusing to tighten in place. When i remove the agitator though the bolt will screw right in place below in to the spanner nut?? Not sure if im saying the right part on that sorry...the part i had to remove with spanner wrench. Either way im completely lost as to why this portion of the repair is so difficult. I took great care taking it all apart so nothing should be broken at this point. What am i missing??? Thanks in advance for any help! Desperate to get our washer back up and running!

Beezy, You will want to make sure that the agitator is being pushed all the way down to the top of the shaft. If it is then it should screw down into the shaft. It sounds like you are not getting the part all the way down.
