D.M. March 12, 2015 for Model Number LSQ9244EQ0 I have been trying to remove my agitator to repair dogs issue, I cannot remove the bolt holding the agitator. I have held the bottom of the agitator with no results. the bolt just spins as if the whole shaft is spinning. The lower agitator works fine while washing This is a Whirlpool with a two piece agitator any help would be appreciated. Thanks
1 Answer Hello D.M., If this is producing no positive results, you may need to use an impact driver to break it loose. If the unit is operating properly, the bolt may be stripped and you may have to apply upward pressure against the bolt while unscrewing for removal. Read More...
Pattycakes January 03, 2015 for Model Number Whirlpool WTW4950XW I have been noticing rust stains on my white clothes after washing, but otherwise the washer appears to be working properly. I removed the agitator bolt and agitator inside the wash tub and see that there is a lot of rust built up around the 'cog' that connects to the agitator. I can't tell what part is rusting. It's not the bolt. Can I remove the agitator plate from inside the tub without laying the entire machine down on its side?
1 Answer Pattycakes, You can remove the agitator from the unit without laying on its side bur it would just be a matter of getting ahold of it. It is possible that the spanner nut is what is rusting or the shaft of the gearcase that is rusting. Read More...
Jimg December 02, 2014 for Model Number LSQ9544KQ0 I just ordered the parts to fix the upper agitator that is not agitating. I am not currently at home and was wondering what length socket extender to you need to reach down to get that bolt out? I have the ratchet. I have the 7/16 socket but no extender that'll reach that far down. Thanks.
Kim S October 24, 2014 Repairman said agitator was corroded and needed replacing(he inferred it was a major repair and to buy a new washer. Cabriolet WTW6700TU1 is it likely that I might be able to replace the agitator? I have taken out the agitator and various parts and they seem to fit together and not be worn. The main drive bolt seems a bit rusty. Doesn't seem to be any stripped parts.
Walt October 12, 2014 for Model Number WET3300SQ1 How tight should the agitator bolt be made? Would a 1/4" drive ratchet be sufficient?
Adriana August 07, 2014 for Model Number Bravos top load washing machine I am trying to remove the coins and sea shells my kids left in their pockets. They have gone between the agitator plate and the tub. I got the bolt out of the top center of the agitator plate with no problems but I am unable to lift out the agitator like it shows in most of the videos where it comes out easily. Any thoughts? I don't want to break it but need to get the stuff out.
1 Answer Hello Adriana. The plate does lift out of the unit. However, some can be difficult to remove. If the bolt is removed, it should lift out. You may be able to use a small screwdriver and be careful not to damage it to get under the plate and lift it out. Read More...
Richard Dmm June 03, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool two speed automatic I took the agitator out to clean it. Nothing was broken and I did not clean the grease from the agitator bolt. I put everything back together, tightened the bolt to "snug" (not a 1/4 turn past finger tight - like spark plugs) every thing seems to work properly spins correctly, sounds good, no odd pitches or vibrations. But when I look at it from the top down as it is spinning - the agitator now looks like it is spinning at a ever so slight angle. The gasket on the bolt did come off and I washed it. I put the flat side of the gasket next to the bolt and the slightly curved side down. Should the gasket be in the opposite position? Do I need to tighten up the bolt more or is there some way to doublecheck? Thank you
1 Answer Richard, You want to get the agitator bolt as tight as possible, (you need to add that 1/4 turn) the position of the bolt gasket, sounds fine, it doesn't really matter, most people "flip" them over, when they can. The "spinning at a ever so slight angle" isn't a big concern. The agitator shaft is "free wheeling" in the spin cycle, and the tubs shift slightly to the front corner do to the torque and creates an optical illusion. Based on your post everything sounds great. Jesica April 09, 2014 for Model Number TAWB600EQ1 The agitator on my machine is no longer functioning properly. The part moves during the wash and rinse cycles but it twists and and wrings the clothes into knots. I was expecting dogs in the agitator to be worn but I don't see those as a part on my washer. My tub is extremely unbalanced as well shifting to the back right of the cavity. Maybe suspension springs or the pads probably.... What are your thoughts?
1 Answer Hello Jesica. Check the agitator in the unit and see if it is broken. If it is good, then you may have an issue with the drive block. Check and see if it is stripped out in the unit. Read More...
Johnny D April 07, 2014 When I try to take off agitator bolt the entire center moves so the bolt won't loosen how do I get the bolt off?
Ted February 27, 2014 for Model Number 11028922790 The agitator on my Kenmore washing machine is not agitating. I was about ready to order new "dogs" (directional cogs) or an agitator repair kit, but after looking at a video to see how to pull the agitator assembly out of the washer I see that the 7/16th inch bolt has broken off. Any suggestions on how to get the bolt out?
1 Answer Hello Ted, If you can pull the agitator out the end of the bolt should be protruding a bit. You can use a hacksaw to put a slot into the top of the bolt shaft so you can try a flat blade screwdriver or you can drill a hold down the center of the bolt and use an easy out to retract the remaining part of the screw. If the agitator will not come out, you may have to break it out to complete the repair. Read More...
