Richard Dmm for Model Number Whirlpool two speed automatic I took the agitator out to clean it. Nothing was broken and I did not clean the grease from the agitator bolt. I put everything back together, tightened the bolt to "snug" (not a 1/4 turn past finger tight - like spark plugs) every thing seems to work properly spins correctly, sounds good, no odd pitches or vibrations. But when I look at it from the top down as it is spinning - the agitator now looks like it is spinning at a ever so slight angle. The gasket on the bolt did come off and I washed it. I put the flat side of the gasket next to the bolt and the slightly curved side down. Should the gasket be in the opposite position? Do I need to tighten up the bolt more or is there some way to doublecheck? Thank you
Answer Richard, You want to get the agitator bolt as tight as possible, (you need to add that 1/4 turn) the position of the bolt gasket, sounds fine, it doesn't really matter, most people "flip" them over, when they can. The "spinning at a ever so slight angle" isn't a big concern. The agitator shaft is "free wheeling" in the spin cycle, and the tubs shift slightly to the front corner do to the torque and creates an optical illusion. Based on your post everything sounds great.
