Carrie for Model Number TAWS700EQ1

Hello! I have replaced the dog ears in my washer that seemed to correct the problem of the agitator not working properly. Now, a few months later, the washer was making a squeaking sound during agitation. I thought maybe there was a sock or something caught under the agitator so I tore the agitator back apart. No sock! Reassembled everything and the squeaking was gone. Two loads of laundry later, check mid wash to find the top agitator floating. Drain and remove clothes assuming it wasn't tightened back down sufficiently. Upon trying to tighten the agitator bolt, I realize the part it screws into is stripped. I'm trying to determine what this piece is called. The outside has grooves on it and the inside is supposed to be threaded (I can only assume.) I believe it's the agitator drive shaft or the transmission (shaft)- these may be the same. Since either is a complicated repair, I want to be sure I select the correct part.

Mick, Typically when the agitator is stripping out, it is caused by overloading of the unit. The unit is high capacity but still if you overload it then it can cause the agitator to strip out.

Hello Tom. The agitator is pretty close, about 1/8th to 1/4", to the tub to keep clothing from going under it.

Hello Tammy. Spray the bolt with some PB Blaster and let it soak if it is stuck. Usually within an hour or 2, you can get it to break free.
