Kurt July 30, 2017 for Model Number MVWX500XW0 Can a shift actuator fail by being too weak? My washer won't agitate or go into spin mode. The shift actuator is trying to move, but can not fully actuate. If I spin the drum pulley from underneath, it helps the actuator shift to the correct location, then everything is fine. So my questions are: 1. Can the shift actuator fail by being too weak 2. If not, what could be causing the difficulty in shifting if the drum spins easily? Thank you for your time.
1 Answer Kurt, With the shift actuator not rotating to position then this would be a faulty shift actuator which would need to be replaced. Read More...
Yolanda July 27, 2017 for Model Number WTW5000DW1 I would like to know what shift actuater is compatible with my model. And also where I can order it from?
Carlo July 27, 2017 for Model Number WTW4800XQ1 When in wash cycle, clothing gets wrapped around the agitator. It looks like the drum turns with the agitator. Rinse & spin, drain & spin cycles are OK. Checked the agitator dogs and they look okay. Checked clutch assembly, nothing worn out or damaged. What can the problem be?
1 Answer Hello Carlo, This is either a problem with the splutch assembly W10721967 or an issue in the gearcase W11454741 unless the shift actuator WPW10006355 is not fully engaging. Read More...
Brandy July 25, 2017 for Model Number Whirlpool I have whirlpool washer, why does the shift actuator keep going out. It last about 10 months each time. This will be my 3rd time replacing it.
1 Answer Hello Brandy. This is a common failure and there is nothing that you can do to prevent it. Sometimes if you have power surges during the cycle, it can damage the part. Read More...

Ian B July 11, 2017 for Model Number MVWC360AW0 My washer had a bearing going out. One day it finally started making this God awful noise. So I replaced the transmission and the noise is still there. But it is only during agitate. It spins fine. I thought maybe it was the splutch so I replaced that. Same problem. The sound comes only when it agitates back and forth
1 Answer Ian, You will want to check the shift actuator on the unit as this will be the most likely cause for the noise on the unit during agitation. Read More...

Shawnna June 30, 2017 I need an actuator for an MVW350AW1 Maytag Centennial. Do you have anything compatible?
Nicole June 23, 2017 for Model Number 110.20022012 My washer is taking a very long time to run through a full cycle, sometimes over 2 hours. It is also making a very loud mechanical grinding noise when switching from fill to wash, wash to rinse or rinse to spin, although this does not happen with every load. Sometimes the clothes are still wet after spin is finished and piled onto one side of the machine (even after very careful even loading.) Other times the machine works fine. I ran the diagnostic and got f7e5 and f7e6 fault codes. The manual agitation tests completed with no problems. I'm thinking the shifter assembly needs to be replaced but how do I confirm that? Can the shifter cause the motor fault code? Or is it the motor causing the shifter fault code? How do I know which to replace? Thanks ??
1 Answer Nicole, The most likely cause for this issue will be a faulty shift actuator part number WPW10006355. Read More...
Cody June 12, 2017 for Model Number Whirlpool Model # WTW4900BW0 Hello, my whirlpool washing machine model number WTW4900BW0 will not go into spin/agitate mode. I put clothes in the washing machine, turn it on and it goes into sensing mode. Then the lock light will start to flash and click. Then it will lock and start but won't ever made it to the spin/drain mode. When I open up the washing machine sometimes there is water and sometimes there is not but clothes are always soaked. Before I would put it into drain/spin mode and sometimes it would work sometimes it would not. Now it won't drain or spin. At first from my google searches it seemed as if it was the lid lock. I replaced the lid lock hoping it would solve the problem and it did not. Should I replace the shift actuator? It sounds like as if that is the problem from what I've read on the posts.
1 Answer Cody, Yes the shift actuator would be the next most likely cause for the issue with the unit going to agitate or spin but also check the splutch assembly to make sure that it is not damaged. Read More...
