David, Check to make sure that there is nothing caught between the tubs of the unit and check to make sure that the wiring to the actuator is not damaged and if these check ok then the issue will be a faulty control board.

Gary for Model Number WTW5600XW

Washer starts and sensing starts, lid lock light goes off like usual, but when it comes back on the washer makes a bunch of clicking sounds in sensing mode, then the lid lock light flashes. Nothing else happens for about 5 minutes and then the lock light clicks off. Seems like when the tub wants to start to agitate the lock light flashes and then that's it until you ungplug and start over. Could this be shift actuator? I checked control panel and see a green light so this is supposed to mean its ok. Also did diagnostic and get the F1 E7 error code. Should I try shift actuator? Washer is 6 years old. Also, belt is in place and everything turns freely.

1 Answer

Gary, Yes, replace the Shift Actuator [ ] and also check the wiring connections at the actuator and control board. The F7 E1 error is a BASKET SPEED SENSOR FAULT and involves the sensor inside the actuator and/or the wiring.

Hello Jesse, You will need to verify nothing is between the tubs and check the shift actuator W11212745 operation. The splutch assembly W10721967 should be checked as should the motor capacitor W11395618 connections and motor windings. A diagnostic test mode can be performed to pull the fault codes. ACTIVATING THE SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES 1. Be sure the washer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off, or all indicators lit but not flashing). NOTE: There are 5 failure modes that can cause the washer to go out of service, indicated by all of the LEDs lit, but not flashing. When this occurs, the washer cannot be started until the condition that caused the failure is corrected and the fault code is cleared. Use the following steps to enter into Fault Code Display Mode, view the fault code, and clear logged fault codes. 2. Perform the following sequence of movement using the cycle selector knob. NOTE: AFTER RESET, sequence “a” through “e” must be completed within 6 seconds, stopping just briefly between each click, resulting in the following sequence: Left - Right - Right - Left - Right. RESET - Place cycle selector knob pointer at 12 o’clock position and wait 3–4 seconds before proceeding. a. Rotate cycle selector knob counterclockwise one click. b. Rotate cycle selector knob clockwise one click. c. Rotate cycle selector knob clockwise one click. d. Rotate cycle selector knob counterclockwise one click. e. Rotate cycle selector knob clockwise one click. ? Successful activation of Diagnostic Test Modes will be indicated by all status LEDs (except for Lid Locked) flashing ON and OFF in half-second intervals. NOTE: LED names may vary between makes and models. ? If the status LEDs do not display as described above, the sequence may not have been completed within 6 seconds. Repeat step 2 to ensure this was not the cause. 3. There are several accessible Diagnostic Test Modes. To select the desired Mode of Operation, toggle the cycle selector knob left and right one click in each direction, advancing through the Test Modes until the status LEDs match the mode desired to enter. 4. Press the START button to enter desired mode of operation. Unsuccessful Entry If entry into diagnostic test mode is unsuccessful, refer to the following indication and action: Indication: None of the LEDs turn on. Action: Press START button to enter setting mode. ? If indicators come on, repeat steps 1 through 4 of Activating the Service Diagnostic Modes. NOTE: Rotating the dial too fast or too slow will affect entry.

Tammy, There is only one Electronic Control Board in the model number you supplied W10393846 / W10393846. The part is in stock and available at this time. You didn't mention an issue with the washer, so we can't make any other recommendations or tests to make at this point. Being a Crosley labelled product, you will need to check your use and care manual, or contact the dealer where you purchased it, to verify the extended warranty coverage. Thanks,

Jim, You will need to check the bolts that hold the agitator are in place and check the hub to make sure that it is not damaged. The hub is under the basket assembly. If this checks ok then the gearcase would be the issue with the unit.

Joe, You will want to check the cam on the unit which is part number W10721967 to make sure that it is not loose or damaged. If this checks ok then the most likely cause would be a faulty shift actuator WPW10006355.

Brad, The shift actuator could be the issue. Would suggest checking to see if there are any error codes stored and this will help with the issue of the unit.
