Hilda April 11, 2021 for Model Number LSQ9010KQ0 -- Whirlpool Ultimate Care II I'm looking for a standpipe adapter for my machine. It seems like they'd be pretty universal. I have a normal washer drain hose and a 2" standpipe.
1 Answer Hilda, An adapter for the standpipe will be a household plumbing part and you should be able to pick on up at a local hardware or home improvement store. Read More...
Margarett November 23, 2020 for Model Number awn632sp116tw01 Thank you for responding. Can you pls tell me why it shouldn't be inside the standpipe more than 4 inches? Because the hose is so short (before purchasing, I was told it was 6 feet and it is only 4) it is very tautly horizontal and not close to the standpipe so I don't know if a ziptie would work.
1 Answer Margarett, The reason for not having the drain hose pushed more than 4 inches into the standpipe is because it will allow an air gap between the water that is already trapped in the standpipe and the hose. If the hose meets with the water in the standpipe it can cause a siphoning effect when filling with water. Read More...
Margarett November 23, 2020 for Model Number awn632sp116tw01 My standpipe is only 2 inches in diameter so I need to purchase this adapter. My question is, should the adapter be flush with the top of the standpipe (which would mean that very little hose, only the part that is inside the adapter, is inside the standpipe) and if not, how far down the standpipe should the adapter go (how many inches)? Thanks
1 Answer Margarett, The hose should never go more than 4 inches into the standpipe. Use zip ties to secure it so there's no chance of it coming out during a drain. Read More...
Marilyn May 26, 2020 I live in an apartment building and the plumber snaked the drain yesterday. My end was clear. I spoke to Whirlpool today and they also said that they don’t have a part for this machine. But it was suggested that I make the hose from the washing machine tight in the drain so that the water does not come up like it was.
1 Answer Hello Marilyn, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Marilyn May 25, 2020 for Model Number MVWB450WQ1 When the water drains out of the washing machine the water pressure is to strong and the water comes up out of the drain. I need a part the the hose can go into and the part to go into the drain to take up the space to prevent the water from seeping out of the drain. Can you help me. I believe the drain is a 2" pipe. The pipe is in the wall.
1 Answer Hello Marilyn, the manufacturer does not supply the type adapter you are asking for. This is a drain plumbing problem, not a washer problem, attempting to make the drain connection air/watertight will result in siphoning of the wash /rinse water tub fill and prematurely wear out the drain pump. According to the manufacturer's installation directions the standpipe for the washer's drain hose has to be able of carrying 17 gallons a minute flow rate. It is not uncommon to have house drain pipes connected to a washer's restrict due to a build-up of debris, soap residue, hard water, grease/oil, lint. You may want to contact a plumber for this as this condition usually just gets worse and the cure could be as simple as using a pour in drain cleaner or the pipe may need to be snaked out. John April 24, 2020 for Model Number maytag Neptune washing machine My washing machine pumps out the waste water after the spin but some of the water returns down the standpipe when the machine finishes and this residual waste water wets the clothes. Seems like I need a one-way valve in the standpipe. Please advise. Thank you
1 Answer Hello John. You forgot to provide the model and the serial numbers off your washer. But first try to back out the drain hose from the standpipe. You don't need more than 6" of the hose inside the standpipe. Thank you. Read More...

Matthew November 04, 2017 So every once in awhile we have a slow moving drain, which causes water to over flow from the 2" inch stand pipe. Is this device capable of stopping that kind of problems? Is it at least design for a 2" inch stand pipe?
1 Answer Matthew, This standpipe adapter should work for your standpipe but may not correct the issue of the water overflowing. For this you would want to have your home plumbing looked at for slow drain. Read More...
