The Agitator Cap is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It fits on top of the agitator and helps secure the agitator components, ensuring proper functioning during the wash cycle. This cap is essential for maintaining the agitator's efficiency and preventing water from entering the agitator assembly.

Causes of a bad agitator cap can include wear and tear from regular use, cracking or damage from impacts, or degradation due to exposure to detergents and water over time.

Symptoms of a bad agitator cap include:

  • The cap being loose or not fitting properly
  • Water leaking into the agitator assembly
  • Excessive noise during the wash cycle
  • Reduced agitation performance

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Ashley, Based on the model number provided your machine did not come with the softner dispenser. However, I can't say it will or will not work, but this part 63580 if it would work would go in place of the agitator cap.

Laney for Model Number WTW5300SQ0

I'm trying to figure out if my washer has a fabric softener dispenser anywhere on it because I can't seem to find it if there is one. There's a solid cap on the agitator which I thought may be the dispenser, but when I take it off and add softener it just pours right out of the little holes above the dust cap (which I just learned what that was from one of your videos a few minutes ago!) Does my washer have a dispenser? If yes, where can I find it? If no, am I able to get one for it? I know it's an old model (I bought it from Lowe's in March 2007). Thank you for your help!

Hello Helen, A sock can go under the agitator but I doubt it would go all the way under. If so, you can remove the softener dispenser, (it just pops off), and use an ratchet, extension, and a 7/16" socket to loosen the agitator. It shouldn't have to be completely removed, just raised up so the stuck item can be removed. If items continue to get stuck, the drive block WP389140 should be checked for wear and the spanner nut checked for tightness.
