Dennis E May 05, 2014 for Model Number ET14JKXAW02 I have a ~1997 Whirlpool top-freezer refrigerator (it came with the house and is not in the best condition). There are three rectangular holes near the back between the freezer and the refrigerator section (which can be seen in the diagram of this model on your website). The middle hole has a styrofoam insert, which I believe is item 26 (diffuser) in the diagram. But there is nothing in the other two holes. Water drips through these two holes into the refrigerator. I don't think this is supposed to happen. It look like there are the remnants of a styrofoam piece in one of the holes. Should there be some sort of diffuser in the other holes? If so, what part number should I order? Thank you.
1 Answer Dennis, The 2 outer holes would need part number WP2316186 which goes down into the holes from the freezer compartment. Read More...
Tom G. August 07, 2012 for Model Number ROPER Model# RT14DKXBL1 I replaced the thermostat but everything is still freezing up on all the shelves. Also, it seems to be running all the time, too. Could it be the air diffuser is bad and directing all of the freezer cold air into the general area?
1 Answer Hello Tom, The thermostat WP9790409 is where I would begin on this model. The diffuser on this model is only a port for air to pass through. There is no opening or closing with this style of diffuser. Read More...
J L. F April 26, 2012 for Model Number ET14JKYAN01 What would happen if the upper part of the diffuser has degradated(crumbled).
1 Answer JL, If the degraded styrofoam, fell into the diffuser, the pieces would restrict the air flow and cause a loss of cooling in the refrigerator compartment. It could also cause the compressor to run for extended periods, in an attempt to reach temperature in the refrigerator. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
1 Answer Hello George. You will need to remove the back wall inside the freezer and the control panel from the inside of the refrigerator. You may need to use hot water to thaw out the diffuser WP2221992, and push it out of the liner. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps. Read More...
