Gary, Yes, there is a way to replace the S/C door latch assembly WP4451896. On your unit it will require quite a bit, remove the side trim, control panel, air vent and then the latch assembly. We'll send you the information you'll need, just remember to label all the wires at the control panel, and switches.Turn the power off to the wall oven before you start. Thanks

Hello Larry, When this occurs, I clamp my small vice grips on the hinge so it cannot pivot back into the assembly. Be aware that you definitely shouldn't clamp onto the double part of the hinge, but on the single part only. This will avoid bending the hinge is such a way that the door hinge would have to be replaced for the door to ever close properly.

Ct for Model Number Whirlpool Accubake

I turned on self-clean cycle and the control lock (green checkmark) came on, but the door lock (green checkmark) did not, and it didn't clean. It started beeping and an error code came on, F5E1. I think I caused it because I turned on the microwave while this process was starting. I rebooted the fuse box but nothing improved. Someone said it was the door latch sensor and another said it was the door latch assembly. The first answer sounds like software, but the second answer sounds like hardware. Are they talking about two different parts?

1 Answer

CT, You're on the right track, The F5 E1 code indicates the oven ERC/Clock, is not seeing the oven door lock switch is closed and the oven is ready to self clean. Check the wires to the latch assembly switches and replace the latch if alls OK. Good Luck and Thanks

Hello Bob. No, the oven door latch is designed to lock the door only when you select a clean cycle. It should not lock when you are using the oven normally, unless it's defective. Thanks!
