This is a Whirlpool range control panel. It houses the display, user interface buttons, and has space for temperature control knobs. With extended use, the buttons on a control panel may wear out or stop responding to user input. Before installing this part, be sure to cut power to the appliance and allow it to cool completely. The stove may need to be pulled away from the wall to access the screws holding the old control panel in place. Remove the screws from each side of the old control panel to disconnect it, then carefully remove any boards or other components installed within the panel. Once it has been completely removed, the new control panel can be installed in its place. This is a genuine OEM part compatible with ranges manufactured by Whirlpool brands, including Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and others. This product is just the panel and contains no additional parts or hardware.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Control Panel (Part Number: OEM18029412)

Pete, if the igniter 74007498 does not glow during this time, the igniter would need to be tested for 120VAC. If there is not voltage present, the most likely cause of failure would be the main control WP8507P229-60. However, if the igniter does glow and does not ignite a flame, or it does not glow but does receive 120VAC, the igniter would be the cause of failure.

Rob for Model Number JDS9865BDP

We have a 15-year-old Jenn-Air duel fuel range model JDS9865BDP and when we set the oven to bake it reaches the set temperature but will not maintain it. If you cancel the oven and reset it, the temperature can be 25 to 30 degrees lower. If we use the oven on convect bake it seems to hold the temperature much better. I was told that the control board is likely the problem. I was told that if self-clean on the oven was used, the heat from the oven will damage the board on the bake mode but the convect will still work. I have replaced the temperature sensor and the door seal and nothing changed.

Hello Rob, The control being damaged by the self-clean is from the heat produced by the self-clean cycle. You see, electronics have two number one enemies: Heat and moisture. During a self-clean cycle, the unit achieves temperatures of 900°F to 1100°F. This high temperature is what causes damage to the control board. This will not be limited to bake but can affect any circuit on the board. I would first check the resistance of the temperature probe 12001656. It should have a resistance of 1090 ohms at 77 degrees and would add 2 ohms for every 1 degree of temperature increase. If this tests good the issue is most likely a failed control WP8507P232-60.

Hello Steve, Based on the issue your having, it sounds like the control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Thank you.

Tucker F for Model Number JDS9865BDP

We traveled away over the weekend and came back to find that only the 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 0 buttons working. Every other button is dead. I powered down for several minutes and the problem persists. It seems somewhat common to replace the control panel. I am up to fix myself as long as this isn't too technical. What should I do first? Also, if this is caused by heat escaping, would you recommend replacing the fabric seal on the door too? Thanks!

Bud for Model Number JDS9865BDP

Recently the bottom row of numbers (7, 8, and 9) do not respond when trying to set temperatures. When other numbers are selected they respond. Then the press enter message appears but if enter is not pressed within 2 or 3 seconds the oven begins to heat spontaneously at the selected temperature. Also, when the vent fan button is pushed instead of the fan simply starting, a message "Warming Drawer" begins to flash on the screen and the words High and Low appear. If the High or Low is then pushed the vent fan starts at the selected speed. Are the issues a problem with the control panel or the control board or both?

Hello Bud, This sounds like a control panel WP5760M373-60. There could be an issue in the control but I would replace the panel/switch assembly first since this could clear the whole issue since a stuck key can cause issues as well as non-responsive keys. To save on shipping you could order both and send back the control WP8507P232-60 if not needed.
