Kathleen November 08, 2020 I replaced the auto load sensing switch after I over-loaded the machine with a wet comforter. (Water soaked large plush carpet!) I forgot to hook up the tube and it wouldn't stop filling. I put it on the spin cycle to empty and now it won't fill. Is that why I have to replace it AGAIN?
1 Answer Kathleen, Hopefully, there wasn't any water damage to the electrical components in the control console? Make sure the washer tub is completely empty, then blow in the end of the tube; you should be able to hear the air entering the tub connection indicating no blockages, kinks, twists, etc. Attach the tube to the switch and make sure there is a tight fit. attach the wires to the switch, make sure they're seated and locked in place, restore power and water to the washer and try it again. George March 30, 2020 for Model Number WPW10248240 Can you describe the difference in the original Auto Load Sensing Switch W10248240 and the latest part number WPW10292584? is the change (including WPW prefix) related to any design change to address the known problem of agitating while filling or is it just to include compatibility with newer washer models / brands? There are plenty of the original W10248240 switches available from aftermarket suppliers for ½ the price of the new WPW part numbers...
1 Answer George, Unfortunately, we do not have information on the difference between the Auto temp switches but would correct the issue with the unit agitating without filling. Read More...
Joe January 08, 2019 for Model Number Kennmore 800 Is it common for this switch to fail. I have replaced it 3 times and this will now be the forth. I replaced it several months ago and it is again bad. What could be causing the sensor switch to fail?
1 Answer Joe, It would not be common for this sensing switch to fail rapidly and would recommend checking wiring for damaged wires and a possible control board issue. Read More...
Lynn April 20, 2018 for Model Number WTW58ESVW0 My washer starts to agitate as soon as I turn it on and water starts running I'm not sure if it is going thru all the cycles.
1 Answer Hello Lynn, This is most commonly caused by the temperature switch WPW10179666 but can also be caused by the sensor switch WPW10292584 in some cases. Read More...
Renalda November 05, 2017 for Model Number WTW57ESVW0 After I manually fill the washer with water because water does not come in automatically, nor does the washer agitate. I find only one area where I turn the knob to and it agitates for about 2 minutes then stops and will spin out. I ordered the timer switch and that did not make a difference. It does the same thing. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Renalda, This is most likely going to be caused by the sensor switch WPW10292584. Read More...

Margaret September 08, 2015 This is the 5th or 6th time I have had to replace the sensor switch since my washer is out of warranty. Why does this part keep going out? When the washer was under warranty we replaced it twice. Now we seem to have to replace it at least once a year. I put a surge protector on the washer after the third replacement.
1 Answer Hello Margaret, You can check the voltage in the outlet the unit is plugged into and it should read 115 to 125 Vac. If the voltage is too low it would cause a higher amperage which would affect the part. Other than this there is nothing you can do short of checking all connections for tightness since this part does have a high failure. Read More...
Lynne March 07, 2015 for Model Number WTW57ESVW0 Replaced timer mechanism. Washer will fill but NOT agitate in the super, regular or light cycle at all. It will not advance through the cycle. If turned to the quick wash cycle it will fill but must be moved ahead in the cycle to agitate for 3 minutes. Then moved to the rinsed cycle. It then will rinse and spin. Could this be the auto load sensing switch? Or something else. Thank you.
1 Answer Lynne, With the problem that you are having with the unit, it will most likely be caused by the auto sense switch. Read More...
