For Whirlpool Refrigerator Compressor Start Device Kit (Part Number: OEM11884005)

Bob B for Model Number kenmore coldspot 10671209101

Hello, i am trying to replace part # 2212964 and the start device kit 8201769 is showing as the replacement. 2212964 has a wiring harness attachment but 8201769 does not. Do you have a video showing how to install this correctly? I read on previous posts that " The red wire would go to the overload, the white wire would go to the bottom left terminal of the relay, and the blue wire would go to the bottom right terminal of the relay." but a visual would be much more beneficial if possible before i purchase this. Please and thank you

Bob, Thank you for your question. The white wires will attach to the relay on pin number 2 and the red wire will go to the overload.

Carlos, Be sure you are looking at the part number on the overloads, as per the manufacturer instructions: Install the new overload protector for your compressor type as described below: • EMU60 & EGY70 use part 2154760 or the • EGY60 uses part 2214067

I have an Inglis refrigerator, model# IKT196301 with compressor model# EMY 60HSC. I have the kit 8201769. I've read conflicting instructions on here on where to hook up the capacitor. I only have the single connector with the red and white wires. That makes sense to me where they go. But to which terminals do I hook up the start capacitor? And is the capacitor polarity sensitive or does it matter which terminal on the capacitor goes where? Thank-you.

1 Answer

Tony, the capacitor would have to be wired into the circuit using a 14 gauge stranded wire and an insulated terminal. The added wire would go from the capacitor to the right-hand terminal of the relay. The other side of the capacitor would be wired into neutral. The capacitor is not showing as being polar sensitive.

Vin, on the compressor start device kit 8201769, the red wire will go to the overload with the plastic connector having the white wire on the bottom so that the adapter wire will fit in place. If there is a capacitor used, the blue wire would connect to the right terminal of the start relay.

Hello Krish, I'm sorry but the only fix for a burned terminal on the compressor is replacing the compressor.

Krishkay, the overload 2214067 would need to be used from the start device kit 8201769 for the model and compressor type provided.

My refrigerator has Compressor number EMY60HSC. Which overload relay should I use 2214067 (282403) or 2154760 (282402)? The three pins on the compressor are upside down: the single pin on top and the two pins at the bottom. Where should the white wire be connected, the left, or the right pin? Remember the pins are upside down than the ones shown in many videos. Which wires should go to the capacitor? This is URGENT, please. My refrigerator is down. Thank You

1 Answer

Hello Krish, The Red wire connects to the overload which is the center terminal. The white wire should connect to the right pin which should be terminal 2 on the start relay. The capacitor will then connect to the same terminal and the other lead will connect to the terminal on the other side.
