Billy C December 02, 2011 for Model Number sx25nw (Amana Side by side) Neither side works. When you frist turn it on fan at bottom back runs, After a short time. The Condensor stats and runs about 7 seconds and stops. Change run capacitor. What is it likly to be.Going to change defrost board next. What do you think.? And how do yu test a defrost ss board. It looks good. Help!!!
1 Answer Billy, Your ADC board 12050506 could be the issue, but you can't test it until you get the compressor to run for more than 7 seconds. Forced Defrost To force a defrost cycle, open and close either the freezer or refrigerator door light switch 4 times in a 8 second period. Allow at least 1/2 second between each switch condition. Important 1. The compressor must be operating when forcing defrost. 2. The evaporator fan motor is fan delayed through the defrost thermostat and will not function after a defrost cycle until the defrost thermostat closes. 3. To bypass the 6 minute dwell time after a defrost or to terminate a forced defrost, disconnect power to the refrigerator for 30 seconds. It's more likely an issue with the start device WPW10189190 or compressor issue. Here's some general information on testing a compressor from the APP Repair Forum [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/refrigerator-freezer-repair/180812-refrigerator-not-cooling-fan-working-compressor-hot-but-not-running.html] Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Tw December 01, 2011 for Model Number ED2PHEXMT00 Not cooling and compressor not kicking on. Getting 117VAC from wiring harness connector that plugs to compressor starter. Removed starter and run capacitor from compressor. Removed black run capacitor and it ohms out ok. The starter assy (two pieces - white and beige)has black soot at one of the slots that the run capacitor plugs into and a burnt smell. Since the run capacitor ohms out ok, is this part ok or do I need to replace it along with the starter?
1 Answer Hello TW. Based on the information, you will need to replace the starting kit 8201786 on the unit. The capactior should be OK. Hope this helps. Read More...
Al November 29, 2011 for Model Number Sears 106.53632300 Side by side only 8 years old stopped working. Compressor seems to start and then stop and gets hot. Parts list are: #12 4387731 Cover (Service Compressor Only) Assuming replacing one or more of the below parts will solve my problem, which ones should I replace and do you have them in stock? #13 4387835 Overload (Service Compressor Only) #16 2220475 Start-Device Combination (Start Relay and Overload) for Production Compressor Only Capacitor #17 999532 (Production) 4387764 (Service) Thanks.
1 Answer Hello AL. If the relay/overload 8201786 is bad, the unit does not work properly. Hope this helps. Read More...
Roger G. November 22, 2011 for Model Number GD5SHGXKQ02 I recently bought part # AP3885081 for the refrigerator. The original start relay was a single unit consisting of the relay and the overload. The replacement parts in AP3885081 are discrete parts that did fit. The problem is that there is no way the cover supplied will work with the discrete components. There is no wireway in the new cover for the wiring to the motor capacitor and I don't want to pinch them by trying to use the cover. Even if there was a wireway, the instructions about hooking and clipping the cover on the compressor simply are wrong for the compressor I have. I notice that there is a single unit supplied in the kit that would work but it appears to take a different style of plug-in harness rather than the individual spade lug leads I now have. My question is: Is there a retrofit adapter harness that will work with the later single unit that I can splice into my existing wiring harness? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Roger. No, based on the model number you provided, 8201786 is the correct kit. If the cover does not fit, it is not required on the unit. Just make sure the ends for the relay/overload are insulated. The kit is manufactured for several different models. Hope this helps. Read More...

Brent September 27, 2011 for Model Number ts25afxkq03 Smoke was coming out from the back of the fridge, we took off the back panel and noticed the starter device was burned. Not only is the starter device fried, the male parts that are attached to the compressor are fried so bad that they need to be replaced. I don't see a way to remove the plate were these male parts are that would attach to the starter device. Do I need to replace the compressor now too? The fridge is 9 years old.
1 Answer Hello Brent. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the compressor W10309994 will need to be replaced in the unit. You can not order the prongs in the side of the compressor. Hope this helps. Read More...
Gus D September 27, 2011 After smelling a burnt rubber type smell and taking the bottom panel off my fridge I see flames shooting out of the starter device for the compressor (EGY90HLP). After it cooled down I removed the device but the top pin of the compressor connection pins and the 2 lower pins across from each other on the bottom were pretty burnt up. Is there any way to just replace the pins on the compressor or do I need to purchase a new compressor just because the pins are melted?
1 Answer Hello Gus. Based on the information you provided, you will need to replace the compressor on the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Neal E. September 23, 2011 for Model Number ED2PHEXMQ00 When I took off the compressor starter, little parts fell out of the starter that looked like a small disk and it looked burnt in side of the starter. Is it a bad starter or a bad compressor?
1 Answer Hi Neal. The starter relay internal disk has fallen out , then you need the comp. start device for sure. This is a way to check how to see if the compressor windings are good still.Compressor test: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/refrigerator-freezer-repair/193358-freezer-fridge-not-cooling.html Thank you. Rodney August 12, 2011 for Model Number GD5SHAXKQ00 I have the new compressor start device for EGY90, original equipment. Your note states that wire connections are different from original, cannot figure it out from instruction sheet provided. Do the wire end connections have to be modified and what color connects where? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Rodney. Based on the model number you provided, it looks like the connector (blue and white wire in molex connector) will plug into the white square box in the kit. Then you will remove the capacitor from the old start device and install it onto the new start device 8201786. Hope this helps. Read More...
