Jacqueline April 06, 2020 for Model Number MCE8000AYW Hello, I was gifted a Maytag Neptune Series washer and dryer over 10 years ago. I'm forever a Maytag fan. Unfortunately, during a move, the movers scratched a very important part of the dryer. The control pad. Because of this, the dryer is often beeping as though someone is pressing buttons on it - when it's just sitting idle. It also prevents us from drying clothes and shuts off. I'd like help replacing that part. Could you help me locate this part somehow? It's the MCG8000AWW Drying Center https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-console-w-membrane-31001658-ap4039020.html
1 Answer Hello Jacqueline, the part you need to repair this drying center is the console with membrane switch /keypad assembly, (31001658) 31001658 ), however, it is no longer available as it has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Read More...
Andre August 10, 2019 for Model Number MCE8000AZW When push the lower cabinet start button, the unit does not start, but the timer display starts counting the time quickly from 54 to 0 in les than a minute. Some of the lights (dry sensor lights) remain dimly lit. When I push the upper cabinet start button the timer display starts at 3:30 and quickly counts down to 0 (in less than a minute), the shirt racks shakes/rocks, and than stops. It appears that the timer is accelerated but the fan/ heater does not come on. Is this a control board problem or the display panel problem or both?
1 Answer Hello Andre, the Touchpad/control panel is faulty, part 31001658 and is no longer available as it has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Read More...
Lin September 08, 2016 for Model Number MCG8000AWW Can anyone tell me if this is typical of a dryer/ washer manufacture to discontinue a part so soon? I've only had my dryer for ten years; which seems a short time for a dryer. I'm in need of the control panel due to a button being stuck and it keeps beeping - that's it. The dryer, otherwise, still works great. Yes, I know I can just unplug it, but it's bothersome to keep doing it. Any help is appreciated - thanks!
1 Answer Hello Lin. Maytag was bought out by Whirlpool. When they came into the company they discontinued models that didn't have real high sales. The drying center was one of those items. Many parts for it are no longer available. Sorry. Read More...
William Hosick April 04, 2016 for Model Number MCG8000AWW A repairman damaged the ribbon on the inside of the consol while working on the dryer. He misaligned a screw and ripped the edges of both ribbons. It appears that two connectors on each ribbon are cut through. Since this consol is no longer available, is it possible to repair the damaged ribbons? Is there a service where I can send the consol to have the ribbons repaired? My wife loves this dryer with the electric feature on top, but I can find nothing like it if I have to replace. The bottom gas dryer works fine.
Victor August 04, 2015 for Model Number MCE8000AYW The start button has stopped working on the control panel. I have confirmed this by using the diagnostics procedure. I am not able to find the part. Is there any compatible part or any way to fix the membrane?
1 Answer Hello Victor. No, the part needed 31001658 has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. Read More...
Jim April 08, 2015 for Model Number MCE8000AYW I just asked a question about my cabinet dryer. The correct model number is MCE8000AYW. The problem is that the upper cabinet dryer heat does not seem to be shutting off at the end of the cycle. In addition, I noticed that the control panel seems to have a distortion in the membrane. I justs replaced it October 2014and am told that the part 3100158 is no longer available, if that's the problem.
1 Answer Jim, The issue with the heat not turning off would not have anything to do with the console. This issue would most likely be caused by a shorted wire in which you will need to check the wiring in the unit for a wire that may be shorted out. Also for the console, make sure that there is not a protective film on the console which could make it have distortion. If not then the console has been discontinued with no suitable replacement available. Read More...
Jim April 08, 2015 for Model Number FAV6800AWW The dryer heat does not seem to be shutting off. My wife said that the clothes feel warm even ater the cycle has completed.
1 Answer Hello Jim, If you could please re-post with the model number from the units' I.D. tag, we can pull the wiring diagram and give you good testing information to determine the issue with your unit. The model number you posted is for the washer. Read More...
Violet November 17, 2014 for Model Number MCE8000AYW UPPER DRYER...it is working but OFF button lights wont go off even you press the OFF SIGN BUTTON. LOWER BUTTON...wont start at all tho some of the lights are on.
1 Answer Hello Violet. You will need to replace the console 31001658 to repair one of the issues. As for the lower dryer not running, Will Not Run Will not start or run: • All wires are hooked up to their corresponding terminals. • Dryer is plugged in. • Blown fuse or circuit breaker. • Door switch functional...door closed. • Poor connection between membrane switch and logic board, or faulty membrane switch. Use "Pd" utility to check function of membrane switch. • Faulty motor relay, use diagnostic utilities to manually operate relay. • Drive motor functional. • Blown thermal fuse. Read More...
Noel September 25, 2014 for Model Number MCE8000AYW The console does not respond for the lower tumbler on the left side. I cannot start the dry cycle today but I could yesterday. Only thing I can do is change the temperature. From the day I bought it I could never change the drying time so I would always select Sensor Dry but cannot anymore. Pressing Start/Pause or Off do not work. My question is: Do I replace the logic board or the Console? If both then I am better off buying a new dryer for the same cost since this dryer is already 10 years old. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Noel. Based on the information you provided, you will need to replace the console 31001658 on the unit. Read More...
Bruce August 23, 2014 for Model Number MCE8000AYW The upper unit digital display/timer sometimes will not cut off when you touch the off button. The lower unit works fine. The upper will cut on and run the preset time if you operate the upper unit, but again, does not always cut off. I've unplugged the unit and it did cut off for a while using the touchpad, but now it has resumed not cutting off unless we unplug the unit or shut off the breaker. Does this mean that I need a new touchpad or is there a way to reset the touchpad?
1 Answer Bruce, This issue would be caused by a faulty console and you will need to replace the console as there is no reset for it. The part number for the console is 31001658. Read More...
