This electronic board regulates power and speed to the washer's drive motor, working with the main control to coordinate agitation and spin. Replacing a failed motor control unit restores consistent drum movement and resolves no-spin or no-agitate issues. What it does:

  • Governs motor start, direction, and variable speed during wash and spin
  • Common failure symptoms: won't spin or agitate; starts then stops; intermittent or slow rotation
  • Visible burn marks, odor, or damaged components on the board
  • Verify power, wiring, and motor condition before condemning the board
What's included:
  • One motor control board
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off water before service; allow components to discharge
  • Use ESD precautions and handle the board by its edges
  • Access location varies by model; photograph connectors and transfer them one at a time
  • Inspect the drive motor, wiring harness, and drive components for shorts before powering up; run diagnostics after installation

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Motor Control Board (Part Number: OEM18062073)

Denver, The F25 error code on this mode is a drive motor tachometer error. This information on testing can be located on your tech sheet inside the unit. If the control is unable to properly detect motor speed, the washer shuts down. If a failure occurs during high-speed spin, the door unlocks after 3 minutes. Possible Causes/Procedure Verify the shipping system including shipping bolts, spacers and the power cord are removed. Unplug washer or disconnect power. Check the drive motor tachometer resistance. It should be approx. 115O between motor connections (see pg. 13 motor connection diagram). Check wire harness connections between the drive motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU). Plug in washer or reconnect power. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor. Check the drive motor for powered rotations

Pedro, "F 70 COMMUNICATION FAILURE BETWEEN CCU AND UIC Communication between Central Control Unit (CCU) and User Interface Control (UIC) has failed. Possible Causes – Electrical connection between CCU and UIC is damaged. Procedure; 1. Clear error code. 2. Unplug the washer or disconnect power. 3. Verify that the communication cable is connected in the lower connector of the UIC. 4. Verify continuity in the cable between the CCU and the UIC. If, after these procedures, the continuity test fails, replace the communication cable. If F70 is still present, replace the UI control."

Hello Ricardo, This can be caused by a loose electrical connection between the user interface and the CCU W10282179. 1. Check for continuity of the User Interface harness. 2. Check wire harness connections to the User Interface and the Central Control Unit. 3. If the drum is not rotating, unplug the MCU from the CCU (the MI3 or M13 connector). If the code goes away, then replace the MCU WPW10420115. If the code does not go away, replace the CCU. 4. Replace User Interface if drum is rotating. I'm sorry but this part WPW10420115 has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Nick, F11 is a MOTOR CONTROL UNIT ERROR as per the tech sheet. The Motor Control Unit has internal failure, repeating under or over voltage, or over current conditions. Can also be caused by a momentary loss of neutral feed to the MCU during the spin cycle. If failure occurs during high-speed spin, the door unlocks after 3 minutes. Possible Causes/Procedure 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check wire harness connections between the drive motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU). Check the motor and do a continuity test. 3. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 4. Run a Diagnostic Test and run the motor. If it does not run, replace the MCU board.
