Sean July 11, 2017 for Model Number KFCS22EVMS8 Replaced the damper control but the damper remains open. Shouldn't it open and close like the old one?
1 Answer Sean, Yes, the auto damper should cycle open and closed when the preset temperature in the refrigerator is reached. Check to make sure there isn't anything on the shelf that could re direct the air flow away from the thermistor located in the ceiling in the control console. the doors are closing and sealing properly, you can also find the tech data sheet(located in a plastic bag, on the bottom of the cabinet liner behind the kick plate grille. You can program the control to the test mode and check the damper operation as well as the thermistor resistances, etc. to diagnose the problem. Read More...
Dan March 28, 2017 I received a damper control (part wpw10594329) from you today for a kitchenaid refrigerator. The old part was in the open position when it was removed. When the new one was installed the damper remained in the closed postion. How does the control know when to open the damper?

Rob February 03, 2015 for Model Number KBFS22EWMS9 Hi, My fridge is at freezing temperatures throughout. The damper W10207517 appeared to be opening and closing properly, but the repair person advised replacing and after install it made no difference. Are there any other parts that control the temperature that I should replace? Thanks, Rob
1 Answer Hello Rob. It sounds like the sensor is bad and you will need to replace the wiring harness WPW10273869. Read More...
Richard F December 21, 2014 for Model Number KFCS22EVMS I know for sure the control damper is going South again due to the erratic noises it makes and items freezing in the back of the fridge. I have the part but cannot figure how to get the plastic cover off and don't want to break it. Any hints?
1 Answer Richard, To remove the plastic piece you just grab the grill part and pull it off. There will then be 2 screws under it that allow you to take the outer shell off. Read More...
Ken February 11, 2013 for Model Number KBFS25EWMS3 I have a noise that happens on a regular basis. I believe it might be the damper? Top rear of refrigerator box. The noise is a soft knocking sound. Maybe better described as a very light fast thumping of a finger on a table. I may be incorrect in regards to the location of the noise but it did stop when I touched the housing. My ice machine has been idle. The noise is not in the freezer section. I had freezer set to 0 and refrigerator to 38 which I now have set at 39.
1 Answer Hello Ken, This means that the damper WPW10594329 is either blocked by a frost build-up or it has failed. Read More...
Steve February 28, 2012 for Model Number KBLS20EVMS3 (Part Number: AP4429877) What does this part control? My frig is making a noise, coming from this exact area.
1 Answer HI Steve. This control is called the damper assy. It controls the amount of desired freezer air incoming to the fresh food section. Failure that commonly freezes the flapper and makes the drive motor hard to operate and you hear the constant noise of the motor/flapper area. It is part # WPW10594329. Make sure the controls are both at mid point. No colder then 0-or -2° in the freezer and 38-45° in the fresh food. Thank you. Read More...
