The High Limit Thermostat Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dryers. This kit includes a thermostat that is designed to prevent the dryer from overheating by monitoring the temperature inside the dryer drum. If the temperature exceeds a safe level, the high limit thermostat cuts off power to the heating element, ensuring the appliance operates within safe parameters and protecting it from potential damage.

We got water in basement from recent flood. The dryer does not heat up now. Also before the flood it will not shut off by itself no matter what setting is set, it will run continuously. What parts do we need to replace? To correct both these problems?

Linda, Based on this information, you will want to see if the igniter is coming on. If the unit got flooded, the likely hood of there being a faulty igniter, gas valve or motor would be likely.

I have a no heat situation for my Cabrio WGD6400SW0 dryer. I have done the conductivity testing on ignitor, flame sensor and high limit sensor all of which indicate conductivity. Still no heat. The ignitor seems to have no resistance rather than some measurable amount. Can these fail in a 'closed' position and not operate as designed or are my measurement devices no delicate enough?...Thanks

Hello Greg. Check and see if the igniter is glowing. If not, then trace and see where your losing voltage at. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. My whirlpool cabrio gas dryer won't start. The lights come on, I press start, I hear a "click" and the sensing light comes on but then, nothing. The process doesn't start. Any thoughts?

John, The most likely cause for the unit not shutting off would be a stuck contact in the timer. The part number for the timer is WP3976576.

Ordered thermostat was 3403140 rated at 205 degrees F. Supplied item is W10423382 rated at 180 F. Is this a correct replacement?

Peter, This part W11050897 is showing as being correct which would mean that the manufacturer has redesigned the part to be 180 degrees as opposed to 205.

My dryer acts like the high temp switch is bad. Turns then off after 10 seconds. It will turn on again after it cools down but for only 5 seconds. I replaced the switch and it worked for a short time, but then stopped working. My wife said it never was right. I ordered a switch from your company, put it in and it still doesn't work. The switchs all test ok when cold, but the least little heat applied to them and they test bad. Is there a lot number of bad switches? Also the dryer stays lit when the switch is bypassed with a jump wire, so I am convinced that the switches are bad. Switch number is w10423382. Thanks

Kevin, Unfortunately, you are incorrect, the hi limit thermostat is working as designed. When there is an air flow problem in the dryer, the heated air can accumulate in the burner flue, at this point the hi limit switch will "open" and remove power to the burner, and stops the heating process. This is a "Safety" device/circuit and helps to keep from damages to clothes and the house. You will need to check the exhaust vent system and hood for clogs and operating length. You may want to disconnect the exhaust vent and dry a load of clothes, or time the burner on time(approx. 50 to 70 seconds) with no load. You may also have to access and check and clean the blower housing and wheel and the outlet duct for clogs as well.

In the beginning my dryer heats for a short period period then the flame goes out.It repeats this lighting for a couple more times then it trys to light but doesnt.You can see a hint of flame but it doesnt fully light.Each time it lights and each time it fails to light a buzzer goes off.So far I have replaced the coils and igniter and all other parts have checked out for continuity..I would appreciate any help. Max, With the issue that you are having would most likely be caused by faulty coils on the gas valve. When the coils get heated they will close off instead of staying open.
