RoxAnn, You will need to check to see if the evaporator coils are iced over. If the coils are iced up then this would be a defrost system failure. The most likely cause will be a faulty control board on the unit.

Jim, Good guess but probably wrong. You most likely have a clogged or frozen defrost drain tube W10619951 When the refrigerator defrosts the water cant drain and seeps out under the evaporator cover and onto the freezer floor. You'll need to remove the back wall, and de ice the drain pan and tube and check for a clog in the tube itself.

Randy, Open the freezer door, remove articles off a couple of the freezer shelves and check for heavy frost or ice on the back wall of the freezer compartment. If frost or ice is present you have a defrost issue, and the air isn't circulating properly to cool the compartments. When you open the freezer door, you should hear or feel the evaporator fan circulating the air, if the compressor is running. If not running and no frost or ice, you'll need to check the evaporator fan.

Steve N for Model Number SCD22TBW

I have an amada SCD22TBW model P1303511W. When it works, it works fine for a few days, then doesn't work anymore. The cooler isn't cold enough and I notice that the freezer coils are frosted/covered with ice. Sometimes, I unplugged the unit for a few hours and plugged it back and it would work again for a few days. I notice when it doesn't work, the ice is melting and dripping down. I am not sure it is the thermostat or the timer, or the fan that is bad. Also, when I checked the air flow in the cooler I don't feel that the air is blowing. Thanks for you help.

Steve, With the evaporator frosting up you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Bill, The defrost timer on your refrigerator is located on the base of the front of the refrigerator behind the kick plate grille. Once you remove power to the refrigerator and remove the grille on the bottom of the refrigerator, you'll see a bracket attached to the inside of the frame on the center brace. Remove the two screws holding the bracket to the frame and slide the assembly out. Remove the two screws mounting the timer to the bracket and reverse the process to install.
