For Whirlpool Cooktop Radiant Surface Element (Part Number: OEM18052851)

Tws for Model Number RF364LXMT

Hi. I just installed the replacement heating surface element you sent me (Elmnt-Surf, Part Number: AP6017614), but it does not work. I'm 99.99% sure I wired it properly, since I took a picture of the original wiring. My .01% of doubt is due to the fact that the terminal assembly on the new element looks a little different than the original. However, both assemblies have terminals basically in four "corners", so I connected the wires to the same terminals of the corresponding corners. Was this not correct? Also, the original female connector on one the wires was too small for the male terminal on the new assembly, so I replaced the old female connector with a larger one that fit the male terminal on the new assembly. Was this not the correct thing to do? Finally, I can see clearly on the old element the exact spot where it "burned out", leaving a gap in the circuit, so I'm pretty sure the old element indeed needed replacement. Could the part you sent me be defective? Could the problem still lie somewhere else, even though the old element clearly had burned out? Please help! Thank you!!!

TWS, the terminal positions can change and it is recommended that the terminal labels are noted when changing wires from one element to the other. The small terminal wires would have gone on the two small terminals farthest from the center of the element. The L2 supply wire would have gone on the large terminal next to the small terminal on the thermal limiter box, and the second large terminal wire would go on the terminal directly on the element body.
