The Oven Bake Element is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. It is a component responsible for providing the heat necessary for baking and cooking. This element is located at the bottom of the oven and heats up when electricity is applied, allowing for consistent cooking temperatures.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Bake Element include:

  • Uneven baking results or undercooked food
  • Lack of heat generation even though the oven is turned on
  • Visible damage to the element such as blistering, cracks, or breaks

Causes of a bad element can stem from natural wear and tear, excessive cooking temperatures overextending the element's capacity, or electrical issues causing the element to fail prematurely.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Mia, Open the door to the fully open position. On the hinge, you will find a piece that will move up and lock the hinge into an open position. This will allow you to lift up and out to remove the door

Quinn for Model Number RF367LXSB0

I’ve recently noticed that when set to a certain temperature, the oven won’t heat to temperature as it used to. When i set to 350 degrees, what used to take about 10 mins to heat to temp, now only heats to about 150 in that time. The oven is the type that tells you it will take 6 mins to preheat to 350, so when that 6 mins elapses it automatically beeps to say preheated but was about 200 degrees too low when i checked with an oven thermometer. The oven did continue to heat up, but very slowly. In all, it took about 35 mins to heat to 350, and once there it seemed to remain, at least without anything in the oven. I'm wondering if this is more likely an issue with the heating element or the temperature sensor probe? The heating element clearly still works to some degree as it does heat up, but just takes forever. And the temp sensor still seems to work because when it gets to a temperature, it seems to stay around that temperature.

Quinn, as this unit will cycle both the bake WPW10308477 and broil W10856603 elements on and off (one at a time) during a bake cycle, it would be recommended that they are inspected to identify if they are both operating during a bake. If one does not glow during heating, it has likely failed and is causing the unit to take longer to heat up.

Ken, the element is testing within tolerance where it will be able to heat indicating the most likely failure to be the main control W10831410. To verify this, while accessing the unit from the back panel, the unit can be placed in bake and tested for 240VAC, if the element does not receive 240VAC, then the bake relay can be tested for voltage output by going to connection CON2 pin 7 (brown wire) to CON4 pin 1 (red wire) and if there is not 240VAC at this point the main control has failed. If there is 240VAC, then there is a wire issue that would need to be addressed.

Hello Debra, the bake element for the model number supplied is part number WPW10308477. If you've tested the element and it tested good you'll want to carefully test for 240vac to make sure the board is good. Hope this helps!

Scott, It does sound likely that the temperature probe would be the issue with the unit fluctuating temps but never getting to 350

Hello Jason. Yes, the bake will only work in the bake cycle. The broil only comes on to help it preheat.

Hello Ron, The solder is not used from the factory and is not recommended for the installation of the new part. The connection could have gotten too hot from a poor connection, the connections could have been shorted to ground in the past during an installation of the part if power was not disconnected as necessary before removal/installation, or someone could have tried to improvise during a past installation. In any case, the element should be connected to the wire using a good tight spade connector TJMA02875-1 connected to the connection on the element with no solder.
