Ron W. for Model Number RF325PXGO When replacing the oven heating element, I see there is a "spot" of solder added to the connector. I can use my soldering iron to remove this solder so as to be able to pull the connector apart and remove the old element. Is this solder needed when installing the new element? I see your video does not use it.
Answer Hello Ron, The solder is not used from the factory and is not recommended for the installation of the new part. The connection could have gotten too hot from a poor connection, the connections could have been shorted to ground in the past during an installation of the part if power was not disconnected as necessary before removal/installation, or someone could have tried to improvise during a past installation. In any case, the element should be connected to the wire using a good tight spade connector TJMA02875-1 connected to the connection on the element with no solder. Read More...
