Thomas June 01, 2019 for Model Number WRF992FIFM00 Can we please get a clear explanation as to why these filters EDR2RXD1 from whirlpool are so expensive? Since I have a whole house filter, the inline filter for the unit is not needed. When the filter is removed and placed into BY-PASS mode every time water is dispensed ( water or ice machine) about a 250ml or 1/2 cup water is discharged from the the FILTER housing assembly. It will fill the drip pan under the draw and after about 2 weeks. The condenser will ice over. IF THE FILTER is installed this is not a problem. The unit is only 1 years old.
1 Answer Thomas, The manufacturer is the one who sets the retail price for these filters. If the unit is leaking when water is pressed with the filter out then you have a faulty filter head and would need to replace it. Read More...
Gooday May 22, 2019 for Model Number KFIS29BBMS02 I have a Kitchen Aid french door using the EDR2RXD1 filter. I see that you have mentioned that the removal of the filter will automatically bypass the filter allowing water to the ice maker and water dispenser. However, how can I turn off the message on the control panel "Replace Filter"? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Gooday, your refrigerator has small switch located up in the water filter housing that the filter cartridge presses on to tell the control board a water filter is installed and can then track the filter use status. As per the Use and Care booklet that came with your refrigerator it states ..NOTE: “Replace Filter” will remain illuminated if a filter is not installed or is installed incorrectly...So there is no option to turn off the message. Zload August 13, 2018 for Model Number WRF992FIFM I have a Whirlpool French Door WRF992FIFM in white, the filter is located inside on the bottom left of the refrigerator compartment. It originally used filter EDR2RXD1 but that has since been replaced by Everydrop Filter 2 as your page notes. The filter cap will not lock onto the Filter 2 housing as the groove pattern is completely different and the filter is very hard to rotate as it does not protrude from the housing enough to get a grip on the housing. Is there a newer cap that fits the grooves on the Filter 2?
1 Answer Zload, It is showing that the filter cap for this unit will be part number W11189114 which is a substitute from the original part. Read More...
Steve Winter July 27, 2018 for Model Number KRFC704FSS00 Is there a water filter bypass cap available for my Kitchenaid KRC704FSS00 refrigerator? I removed the old water filter we can still get water from the front of the door but it is no longer making ice.
1 Answer Steve, the by-pass is built into the filter housing, all water goes through the filter system, if you are getting water to the front dispenser, there is water going through the filter, you will probably need to replace the icemaker. Read More...
Rick March 04, 2018 for Model Number WRF954CIHM00 After changing water filter, there was a release of gray debris into the water. Is that normal? How much water should be flushed before it is safe to drink?
1 Answer Rick, It is normal to have particles in the water when dispensed after replacing filter. You will want to flush about 3 gallons of water through the system after replacing the filter. Read More...
Weblee November 21, 2017 for Model Number WRX988SIBM01 We connected a RO water source to the refrigerator and now I find there my not be a bypass plug. Do you know of a bypass plug for this unit OR maybe a dummy housing in the form of the Filter 2 edr2rxd1 filter?
1 Answer Weblee, This unit does not require a bypass plug. When you remove the filter the housing will automatically bypass. Read More...
Greg November 14, 2017 for Model Number KFIS29BBMS01 I have replaced the original water filter in my KitchenAid refrigerator with the WHP/Filter-W10413645A/EDR2RXD1 replacement filter I purchased from you. I have inserted it firmly into the socket (1/4 turn) several times and poured the required 4 gallons through the water dispenser. It continues to leak water into the filter housing, with an accompanying loud raspy noise coming from the water dispenser. What's wrong?
1 Answer Hello Greg. Based on the information you provided, you will need to replace the housing W11194438 on the unit. Read More...
Kathy November 06, 2017 for Model Number WRF989SDAE00 We have a whole house filter and do not need a filter in the refrigerator. Is there a plug/cap to replace the filter (#EDR2RXD1)? Also, why would the ceiling be dripping water from the little slots next to the filter housing since we removed to filter and are using the water with nothing in it's place.
1 Answer Kathy, There would not be a bypass cap for this unit as it will auto bypass when filter is removed. The little water may be from removing the filter but if it is continuing to drip then the auto bypass is not fully seating and the filter head would be the cause for this issue. Read More...
Kevin July 19, 2017 for Model Number ED5PHEXRL00 I am wondering what type of water filter bypass plug I will need for my Whirlpool ED5PHEXRL00 refrigerator.
2 Answers Hello Kevin, You do not need a bypass plug for the model provided. Pulling the water filter out should allow for water dispense with no bypass or filter installed. Read More...
