Linda August 30, 2013 for Model Number ED2VHEXVQ01 I have a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator, I had to replace my water filter #4396841 fast fill in my fridge on 8/14/2013. Today, my water dispenser would not work. Now, if I take the filter out the water dispenser works! Put the new filter back in , the water dispenser no longer works....Any suggestions as to what the problem is would be greatly appreciated. What do we need to do to resolve this issue?
1 Answer Linda, If you're sure you followed the filter installation instructions, (removed the cap, flushed and filled the filter with fresh water, and installed and twisted and locked in place). Then the issue would be in the filter housing valve WPW10121138. When the filter is installed properly it activates a valve which directs the water into the filter and out to the dispenser, if the valve isn't activated, the water won't pass through the filter. 1 Answer Hello Tim. Hello Tim. Yes, a bad filter could cause issues with it. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
