The Whirlpool EveryDrop Refrigerator Water Filter 8 reduces contaminants such as cysts, rust, dirt, limescale, sand, and silt to provide clean, fresh tasting water. This filter is used by specific Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerators with a round plastic filter located inside the refrigerator compartment which accept Filter 8. Single filter. Simple turn installation. Filter Media: Coconut Carbon Block. Micron Rating: 0.5. Replace every six months for optimal performance. Temp Range: 33 - 100 °F. Pressure Range: 30 - 120 psi. Hello Alissa, To change this filter EDR8D1 simply grab it and rotate it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn. Be sure to throw away at least 2 gallons of water before using it. This should help in removing flavor from the water supply.

Hello Jesse. The water valve 2206123 is bad on the unit. This part has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. Sorry.

Marc, A "bypass plug" is not necessary for your refrigerator. The filter base has an internal mechanism that allows the water to flow directly from the tubes to the reservoir when the filter is removed. When the filter is installed the mechanism directs the water into and through the filter then to the reservoir. Remove the filter and make sure you snap and lock the filter cover in place.

Mark, While it is recommended to turn the water off before changing the filter, it is not necessary to do so. The only reason it is recommended is incase the filter head does not close when the filter is pulled out, it will spray water everywhere.
