Rich C. May 29, 2012 for Model Number KUDM24SE My dishwasher door is closed and stuck. Something in the latch mechanism seems to have broken and I cannot open the door. The lever/latch located in center and underneath the console feels loose and not completely attached. How do I open the door?
1 Answer Hello Rich. It sounds like the handle WP9743903 may need to be replaced. You will lift upward on the handle and the door and jerk the door open to release the latch. Read More...
Travis February 03, 2012 for Model Number KUDS24sebl Attatched to the Control Panel is the handle -ap3044868.I need to replace this and just now ordered the part. I have the little spring and handle link (metal rod)that felled outtha old handle is broken and loose inside. I know I need to remove the console to put it in, but I do not know how to use the rod and spring. Any tips?
1 Answer Hi Travis. The spring and rod will apply pressure to the handle when installed properly, so the handle is not loose. The Longer L-end of the lever will rest inside the back of the door handle. The spring will hook into the bottom center of the handle on the narrow center flange. There will be a notch in the same location on the inner side of the inner door panel to hook the other end of the spring. You should be a very visible area and even the scratch marks where the spring broke off.The service manual does not give a actual indication of the latch spring at all Handle part # WP9743903. Travis February 02, 2012 for Model Number kuds24seal2 I Need to replace a door handle -part#3044868 for my Kitchenaid dishwasher #KUDS24sebl2. I think I can do this by moving the panel console away enough to get at the old broken handle. The handle link-#5 and a small spring #4 dropped out of the bottom of the old handle that is still in the dishwasher. The handle is very loose and flops around.
1 Answer Hello Travis. No, you will need to remove the inner door panel to access and replace the handle WP9743903. You can do this the way you are talking about, but it is very hard to do that way. The spring and rod will apply pressure to the handle when installed properly, so the handle is not loose. Hope this helps. Read More...
