Al August 04, 2016 for Model Number DE312 Not getting any heat, I suspect heating element. What is best way to check element, visual for breakage? Also when turned on more dry less dry setting it continues to run is that because of no heat?
1 Answer Hello Al. You will need to test the element for continuity. It should read closed. It will continue to run if there is no heat in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Jim May 16, 2012 for Model Number Maytag Dryer DE710 My dryer is not drying clothes. I removed the heater assembly. The wire between the thermostat and the heating element is burned on the heating element end of the connection and hence is no longer connected. The heating element reading shows to be 11 ohms. The thermostat is 0 ohms between posts. I am thinking replacing the wire is a temporary fix. Thoughts of what caused the burned wire?
1 Answer Hello Jim, The wire burned because it was a point of high resistance. I would install both of the thermostats WP303396,WP694674, and run it. The jumper wire part number is WPY304693. If you manufacture one yourself, it has to be crimped with a proper crimping tool or it will burn off again. Read More...

Tom January 23, 2012 for Model Number de482 I just replaced the heater assembly with new unit and still getting no heat from the dryer. The new assembly reads about 10 ohms, the old unit reads open.
1 Answer Tom, since you have a meter, you will need to check both thermostats for a "closed" circuit at room temp. with the wires off the terminals. The cycling thermostat (on the blower housing has 3 terminals, the single terminal on top does not need to be checked). You may want to check for voltage to the element, but be careful. disconnect the wire from the hi limit thermostat that attaches to the element terminal. start the dryer in a heat setting and check from the vacant terminal to chassis ground, if you read 120 VAC your timer and thermostats are OK, if not you'll need to check th wiring and components back and up to the timer. Check from the end of the disconnected wire to chassis ground, you should read 120 VAC, the wiring and motor switch heat circuit is OK, if not you'll need to check the the wiring back to the motor switch and back up to the terminal block on the back of the dryer. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
