Anthony August 17, 2014 for Model Number GGW9250PW3 The symptoms my dryer is displaying include shutting down mid-cycle, sometimes after a minute or so, sometimes twenty-five minutes in. Some of the buttons on the User Interface are unresponsive but when I enter Diagnostic Mode all the buttons light and the display reads "88" which I think means that there are no stored fault codes. I have checked all the usual culprits with a meter and all the hardware seems to check out.
1 Answer Hello Anthony, The "88" in the display indicates that you have entered the diagnostic mode. Opening the door should cause a beep tone and a number and letter to be indicated in the two-digit display. Closing the door firmly should cause a beep tone and the display to go blank or indicate “88”. If any fault codes are present, they will display soon after the initial "88". If no fault codes are present you should check the plug prongs for burned spots which indicate a loose wall outlet, (which requires a new receptacle to be installed, and if the burned spots cannot be sanded down to shiny metal, the cord should also be replaced). If this, the breaker, and the terminal block all check out fine, the main control board WP8546219 is the suspect. Read More...
Matt July 07, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool GGW9250PW0 I am looking for a replacement control panel assembly for this dryer - seems many places are out of stock. I located a used one for the same dryer in an electric version - model GEW9250PW1. It appears they're the same control panel, I want to know if they're interchangeable. THANK YOU!
1 Answer Hello Matt! Yes, the control panel part number 8558748 and the electronic control WP8558753 is the same for both models GGW9250PW0 and GEW9250PW1. Thanks. Read More...
Keith April 25, 2014 for Model Number GEW9250PW0 The interior drum light comes on but the lights on the control are very dim and cannot be changed. The dryer will not run. I replaced the main circuit board located in the cabinet but that did not make any difference. Is the problem most likely a faulty control board? Thanks, Keith
1 Answer Hello Keith. You will need to see if there is a wiring issue or voltage issue first with the unit. If all is good, then you will be looking at replacing the main board WP8546219 on the unit. It powers the display interface on the unit. Read More...
Greg G April 23, 2014 for Model Number GGW9250PW3 Hi, I have a Whirlpool Duet gas dryer (GGW9250PW3) that failed this past weekend. When I plug it in, only 2 lights on the dial light dimly, I believe the regular and the heavy duty lights but nothing else. Also couldn't do the self test. I unplugged the dryer, put a meter on the thermal fuse after removing the wires and it's reading looked good. I then did the same with the thermistor (removed wires first) and got absolutely no reading. Reading similar posts, it sounds like the control panel board (8558753) was bad. My question is, could a bad thermistor alone cause the malfunction or am I dealing with multiple issues ... bad control board and bad thermistor? I should also note that I took the whole dryer apart, unplugged the main control board (8546219) and the control panel board (8558753), checked the thermal fuse and thermistor. I then put it all back together, plugged it in and everything looked fine with the lights, etc. I even turned it on for a minute and it ran. I then put a load of clothes in, shut the door and the problem came back and would not run. Thanks for your input! Greg
1 Answer Greg, This issue sounds more like a control board issue rather than the thermistor. The thermistor should have a resistance reading and if it does not then would also need to be replaced. Read More...
Brian April 15, 2014 for Model Number Gew9250pw1 My whirlpool duet dryer lock control is lock and I can't unlock it. I try to press and hold end cycle for 10 and 30 second still the control lock light still on, I took control board out clean and put back in, everything work normal, but after 1 cycle i can't end cycle or turn off and all the function does not work. I unplug power cable for about 10 minutes and plug it back I got control lock again. What wrong with it, is it control board or user interface. Please help, thank in advance.
1 Answer Brian, make sure all connections are ok on the control and none are loose or have any built up corrosion. If the wiring and connections are ok, you'll need to replace the user interface, part number WP8558753. Thanks! Read More...
Fred April 06, 2014 for Model Number GGW9250PW0 I cannot get the dryer to respond to the controls. In the past I could get it to work by entering the trouble shooting mode and resetting everything. The damp, bulky item, extra low lamps are glowing dimmly. The control locked lamp is bright and before I unplugged it there was an intermitent beeping. The machine is Pewter in color. What do I need to order and what is the part number? Thank You.
1 Answer Fred, the most likely issue will be in the User Interface WP8558756. When you reset the control, you also reset the interface . The dim lights and intermittent beeping are circuits controlled by the interface. Read More...
Louis January 23, 2014 for Model Number GEW9250PW0 WHIRLPOOL DUET ELECTRIC DRYER Dryer only works on heavy duty cycle. Temperature setting is stuck on high and if you try to adjust by pressing the button, this only changes the "end of cycle signal" level. Unit drys fine but cannot run any other cycle but heavy duty. Turn to the other cycles and nothing happens...no time is shown.
1 Answer Louis, With the unit only working on heavy duty and cannot adjust temp this issue would be caused by a faulty User interface board. Read More...
Joe January 21, 2014 for Model Number GEW9250PW0 What is the difference between part#AP3777740 and part# AP3775978? The are both illustrated as part #19 in the exploded appliance view.
