David September 02, 2013 for Model Number ggw9250pw2 I have to install part # 8558753, control panel. How to I take the old one off. When I bought my last part there was a video on changing the circuit board on the same machine. Is there a video for this part?
1 Answer David, Here is a video that will show you how to replace the control board on your unit. This video is not for your exact unit but will be the same disassembly as your unit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XlGBUZJw3A Read More...
Les August 08, 2013 for Model Number GEW9250PWO Hello, I've got no response to touching any buttons or moving knob. Started with a few lights on control knob and settings but very dim, but no response. Checked 220 at wall every thing good, then no lights no response?? any thoughts
1 Answer Hello Les. Based on the information you provided, if there is power to the main board WP8546219 but no power to the interface, you will need to replace the main board on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Stacey M July 13, 2013 for Model Number GEW9250PW0 My drum light comes on when I open the door but the display is completely blank. I've reset the breaker a couple of times and nothing changes. I can open the door and get the dryer into diagnostic mode and when I close the door all the LEDs light as they should and I can even hit the start button and the dryer will turn and produce heat. Is it possible that my main controller board is dead and if so, what part number do I need to get? I've looked at the manual I downloaded for my model number but either I am completely blind or I don't see it listed. Any assistance would be most appreciated. I have four people to do laundry for and the thought of having to go back to stringing a close line is making me want to cry :) Thanks again
1 Answer Hello Stacey. Test for power to the main board. If there is power there, and the unit does not work, you will need to order and replace the main board on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Richard Kane July 13, 2013 for Model Number GEW9250PWO I replaced the user interface #8558753 because the dryer would not start and the control locked light would light intermittently and dimly. After replacing this interface the dryer ran two loads and then would not restart. The interface now has three dimly lit lights on including the normal cycle light, the touch up cycle light and middle light on the more to less dry group. So, then I followed the tech sheet guidelines and replaced the control board number 8546219. No change, the dryer still won't start, the 3 lights are still dimly lit and can't enter diagnostics mode. What is the next step?
1 Answer Richard, You will want to check the thermal fuse on the blower housing and check the wiring harness between the main board and user interface to make sure that it is not damaged. Read More...
Linda M. March 21, 2013 for Model Number GEW9250PWD I have a whirlpool duet and the dial says 'Control Locked'. I have unplugged it and plugged it back in and also checked the circuit breaker but I still can't get it to do anything. Our electric company is replacing poles, and we have had a lot of power outages that are short and frequent. Hopefully that hasn't done something to it. We have only had this machine for 2 years. We purchased it from a party that was re-locating and had no room for the duet. It has worked beautifully up until now. Hope you can help me. Thanks.....Linda
1 Answer Hello Linda, This feature allows you to lock your settings to avert unintended use of the dryer. You can also use the Control Locked feature to avert unintended cycle or option changes during dryer operation. To enable the Control Locked feature when dryer is running: Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds. The control is locked when a single beep is heard and the Control Locked status light is on. When the dryer is off, it is not necessary to press the Control On button before activating the Control Locked feature. To unlock: Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds to turn this feature off. NOTE: When the dryer is running and Control Locked is on, the dryer can be stopped by pressing the Pause/Cancel button, but can’t be restarted until the control is unlocked. Read More...

Dale December 21, 2012 for Model Number GEW9250PWO I was moving the dryer and hit the wall with the control knob and broke the console Electronics panel. My Cntrl-Elec part # is 8558743. Have they updated the # because you have a #8558753. Are they the same part? Thank You, Dale
1 Answer Hello Dale, The part you will need is WP8558753. The differences that normally confuse people are the button colors. Read More...
Jill F. December 21, 2012 for Model Number GEW9250PWO I asked a previous questions and part 8558756 was recommended to me. I was wandering what the difference is between parts 8558753 and 8558756? Both say they are compatible with my Whirlpool Duet dryer model. One is quit a bit more expensive. Can you give me a good reason to purchase the more expensive unit or a bad reason to not get the less expensive? Thanks for your help.
1 Answer Hello Jill, The cheaper one that you were looking at is actually the one that should have been recommended to you, by color. The color of the buttons are the only difference. As far as why the last question was answered like it was, my guess is that, since the one he recommended was shown first, the tech probably didn't think about any difference and if he didn't scroll down, he probably never even noticed the other ones were listed. The color of the buttons do not affect the components function so, it really makes no difference with the exception of the price. Read More...
Keith September 22, 2012 for Model Number GEW9250PW0 My dryer's user interface panel is dead, no LED lights come on. The light inside the drum and the door switch works fine. I've also verified there is power coming in from the plug/terminal block, and to the main control board. How do I know whether to replace the user interface board or the main control board? Is there a way to check if I have proper voltage coming out of the main control board? I can't afford to replace both boards.
1 Answer Keith, A couple of checks to make. At the main control board check for 120 volts across P1 pin5(blk) and P! pin 3(blu), with the door switch closed. If all's OK, you'll need to test the key pad / buttons resistance circuits with a your meter (page 6 of the tech data information sheet). There is voltage into the control board at all times, but no power out until the selection is made and the start button is pressed. (you'll find your tech data information attached to the inside of the lower access panel). Read More...
Otis September 19, 2012 for Model Number gew9250pw My dryer is not running, it will run on normal cycle but cant pause or turn it off with the cancel button. How difficult is it to replace the control module in this unit ?
1 Answer Hi Otis. Remove the 3 torx t-20 type screws from behind the top panel. Then slide the top back and up at the same time to remove it. Remove the dispenser drawer and lay each screw inside this front area so they go back in the same hole. Open the door and at 12:00 above it remove the hidden lower front panel screw. Remove all top panel mount screws and the screws on the metal support bar just behind the front panel top. Look down inside each side and remove the inner 1" metal release clips to allow the inner control panel mounts. Mark all wires for proper reinstalling. Use a straight pick tool inside the wire electrical connectors to carefully bend the female terminals for tight insertion back onto the board. NOTE: Tricky parts ahead! On the front side of the user interface there are a lot of spring loaded buttons, some of them linked together. So they will fly out and go everywhere. If your interface is platinum it uses part # WP8558753. If it is biscuit it uses part # WP8558755. If it is pewter it uses part 3 WP8558756. Inside there is a tech sheet supplied to assist connections and diagnostic procedures. Thank You. Read More...
