The Icemaker Kit is an OEM part compatible with Whirlpool refrigerators. The icemaker kit includes all of the components necessary to produce ice within the freezer. It is designed to fit within the refrigerator's ice maker assembly and functions by filling modular ice trays with water which then freeze into individual ice cubes.

Symptoms of a bad icemaker kit include:

  • Icemaker not producing ice at all or producing an insufficient amount
  • Ice cubes joining together or being malformed
  • Drips or leaks from the icemaker area
  • Louder than normal noises emanating from the icemaker

Causes of failure can include damage or wear to internal components over multiple fill and freeze cycles. Regular mineral buildup from water can also cause issues.

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Ryan for Model Number AFI2538AEB

I am looking at this replacement ice maker and I would like to know if the complete set for $150 includes all the solenoids and switches. None of the pictures show a view of the back with the motor and solenoid so I would like to make sure they are included. Our ice maker does not fill or cycle. I am guessing it is the ice maker and not the water valve. We do get water out of it. I just want to make sure I get all the parts I need to replace it the first time. Thanks.

R. Belk, When you open the refrigerator door, remove the ice bin. On the lower left side of the ice compartment there is a small hole, place a small screwdriver in the hole and pry up. This will release a tab that will allow you to pull that cover off. Once off disconnect the wire harness. There is a tab on the left side of the icemaker that you release to slide the icemaker out.

Kay, You will want to check the bottom of the icemaker for a leak. It sounds like this would be the issue with the unit. Possible that the icemaker is defective.

Gerald, You will want to make sure that all connections at the wire harness are good and that there are no loose connections. If the connections are good then you will want to determine if the motor for the auger is getting power to it. Also check to make sure that the bin is in properly. If there is power to the auger but it is not turning then the issue will be a bad auger motor.

Charles, Unfortunately on this icemaker there is not a water adjustment screw. If there is too much water getting into the icemaker then you would want to look at a possible issue with the water valve seeping causing water to drip into the icemaker.
