Janet P. for Model Number Maytag MFI2568AEW

The original ice maker (model 67006333) in our Maytag french door refrigerator has finally died. Just want to confirm that the replacement ice maker we should order is Whirlpool W10519364. The instruction sheet says it's for "Mid-South ice maker conversion to Whirlpool" which confused me. I've also found references to another ice maker model Y13068002 but that is an older replacement part that has been replaced by the W01519364? Also, is removal of the old ice maker and installation of the new one a DIY job that a couple of novice DIYers can tackle? Thanks in advance for your reply!

Hello Ron. Make sure the temp is between 0 and 5°. If so, replace the filter or valve on the unit.

Hello Harold, Most ice makers have one screw at the bottom and two at the top, one wiring harness to disconnect and the fill tube just hangs into the fill cup. If you would like more specific instructions, include the model number and we can give instructions that directly pertain to your unit.

Hello Hank. Here is the instrucions from the manufacture on removing this icemaker W10583817. Remove the slender side panel on the left side bottom of the IM compartment. You will have to insert and press down on the locking tab inside of the panel. Once the panel is removed, there is a tab on the bottom left side of the ice maker control, press down on the tab and pull out on the ice maker. The whole assembly will slide out of the compartment. Unplug the molex conection to remove the assembly from the refrigerator. Hope this helps!
