1 Answer Hello Travis. To replace the icemaker on this unit, you will remove the ice bin. On the left wall at the bottom there is a cover. Use a small screwdriver in the little hole to release the cover. Once released you will then disconnect the harness and push the lever on the side of the icemaker and slide out. Steve May 17, 2015 for Model Number GD5THGXKSO2 The Ice Maker stopped working. I replaced the entire ice maker and it appears to be working but I am not getting any water into the unit. I checked the water source and water is getting to the back of the unit. Can you tell me what are the potential causes or better yet solutions to this issue?
1 Answer Hello Steve. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. There is no problem while the unit bin is filling up,but if the unit is full and you're not using the ice for aday or two the ice will have small bridge across the cubes and stop up the auger
1 Answer Charles, There is no adjustment for the water fill. If the cubes normally have no bridge to them but do when not used for a couple days, this would indicate that the water valve is seeping and allowing a little water to trickle into the icemaker which would cause the bridging. Read More...
Scott B. April 06, 2015 for Model Number mfi266xeb6 I discovered a motor module short, evidence of the copper arcing and plastic burning. I ordered a new motor module AP5272180 and new mold-ice AP4567678. I installed both and ice maker still won't make ice. I poured water into the mold, it made ice but won't harvest it. What would cause the short in the module in the first place?
1 Answer Hello Scott, Since I cannot see the motor module, there is no way for me to accurately advise on the cause of the failure. I can tell you that there has to be thermal mastic, (aluminastic), on the cycling thermostat or it will never cycle on its' own. It sounds like there is probably an underlying cause of the failure that has been overlooked. Gideon April 02, 2015 for Model Number GZ25FSRXYY2 The cubes are still connected after dropping and the auger jams when dispensing. I took the front cover off, but I cannot find the adjustment screw to adjust the water filling the tray. Please advise.
1 Answer Gideon, This unit does not have a an adjustment screw for the icemaker. With the icemaker have cubes that are bridged it could be an issue where water valve is not closing completely and allowing icemaker to overfill. Other wise this would be a icemaker issue. Read More...

Ron January 10, 2015 for Model Number GI6FDRXXY07 The ice maker started making a loud growling noise every-time it was cycling to dump ice. After a couple days the ice maker stopped working. It stopped half way through the dumping cycle. I replaced the ice maker. It worked fine for a day and a half. It then started to make the same loud growling noise. After it did it 3 time I shut the ice maker off so it would not break. What do I need to check and how do I fix this?
1 Answer Ron, This would be one of 2 different issues that could be causing this. The first would be that there may be a piece of ice that is stuck causing the arm to hang up and cause this noise. The second, which is more likely, is that the icemaker is getting too much water in it which would cause the heater to not turn on properly and cause the icemaker to strain to get the ice out. With this issue it would most likely be that the water valve is seeping and allowing water to pass when it is not calling for water on the icemaker side of the valve. Read More...
Ray September 02, 2014 for Model Number GZ25FSRXYY5 My ice maker stopped working for about 3 days then started working for 2 days and now has stopped again. I've pulled it out and it had ice in it and wouldn't dump it. I've seen people jump out between the hole to start a cycle. mine has a (V) (L) and a (M) hole and a (H) screw. Jerry August 17, 2014 for Model Number GZ25FSRXYY2 The whirlpool Model GZ25FSRXYY2 ice maker stopped producing ice cubes, I replaced the water valve inlet " that by the way - is shown in the "Ice maker schematic" that is provide here but is located in the back and bottom of the refrigerator and not as suggested behind the ice maker. The ice cubes now are smaller and water seems to drip from the water dispenser causing ice build up in back of ice tray, my question is .. how do I adjust the size of the cube and will it stop the water drip?,,yes the water has adequate pressure as it worked before the ice maker went bad and yes I replaced the water filter and no kinked water lines,oh by the way this refrigerator is 1 year old just past the warranty to run out , any help wold be apreciated
1 Answer Jerry, If you take the cover off the icemaker head there is a small plastic screw on the side. This is for adjustment. As far as the leaking goes, when installing the water valve or the filter you always want to make sure that you purge the water through the dispenser to make sure that all air is out of the lines. If there is air in the lines it will cause the dripping issue and will also cause an issue in which the icemaker may cycle and not get enough water into it.
