For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM18053016)

Bo for Model Number SRD25VPSE & last digits on Mfr 23WE

My water dispenser abruptly quit working. I have not confirmed yet whether the ice maker is getting water because the ice bin was full at the time. I replaced the water valve (AP4511621)which did not correct the problem. I then referred to the electrical drawing label attached to the back of the Fridge. I traced a light blue wire to a solenoid switch that might be the problem. Assuming this is correct, how would I access it. But first let me know if you think that will solve the problem before I buy another part. Thanks

Hello Bo. If the switch WP10533003 is bad, it can cause the dispenser not to work. Also, check and make sure the water line in the freezer door is not frozen over. If so, it will need to be thawed out. Trace all the wires and make sure none of the wires going from the switch to the water valve are broke. Hope this helps.

Dave, You would have to have a bad fill circuit in the ice maker control head D7824706Q or a broken wire to the fill valve from the icemaker. Good Luck and Thanks

Hello Joe. Pull out the refrigerator and remove the back cover. Disconnect the power and turn off the water to the refrigerator. Remove the screws holding the valve in place and remove the water valve. Remove the lines going to the old valve and install them onto the new valve. Remove the wires and install them on the new valve WPW10245167 as well. Reinstall in reverse order and check for leaks. There are no special tools needed for this repair. Hope this helps.

Wiley, That's the most logical place to start the fill valve, If you have a multi meter, you would want to test across the 2 wires at the solenoid for 120 VAC constant , If so, you'd have a bad contact in the ice maker control or shorted wire. Good Luck and Thanks.

Hello Ann. Unhook the water line from the bottom of the freezer door. Press the dispenser for water and see if water comes out there. If so, the water line inside the freezer door is frozen and will need to be replaced. If there is no water there, you will want to test at the water valve and see if there is power going to the valve when the dispenser is pressed. If so, and no water comes out, you will need to replace the water valve WPW10245167. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
