Joe for Model Number Kitchenaid KGSC308LSS0

Received part WP9755424 and need to convert it to LP (propane). I have the Kitchen aid conversion instructions that describe turning over the "regulator" dohickey (under white cap) and reinstalling it. But, I find the brass orifice fitting (13mm hex) going to the oven is quite reluctant to turn. I am hesitant to proceed as it does not seem reasonable to force it. I've done a bit of mechanical work and this feels a bit like "better stop before you snap it off". Been through this before but do not recall it being so reluctant.

Joe, the orifice hood may already be tightened down. This can be identified by loosening the orifice hood 2 full rotations and then tightening it until it is just snug. It is correct that the orifice hood should not be overtightened as this can damage the pin under it.

Randall for Model Number SF379LEMS0

I purchased this oven/range and the previous owner disposed of the LP conversion kit. I'm trying to track down the correct size for the LP orifices to convert to LP. I have the factory rating label for the BTUs for the burners but that's not enough information. Apparently the only conversion kits shown as compatible only include 4 orifices for the top burners but not the bake and broil orifices. They also appear to be no longer available though I have found a few people who might have them. Is there any way to find out what the correct six LP orifices are so I can buy them individually if I can find them?

1 Answer

Randall, For the oven you do not need to change the orifices, you just adjust them by tightening them down 1 1/2 to 2 turns. Unfortunately, on the top burner orifices, we do not have any size information for them.

Hello Gerardo, for the LP conversion you would need part WPW10170534 LP kit for the cooktop , and part W11126051 LP kit for the bake/broil burners. You will also need to adjust the pressure regulator for LP gas supply and and adjust the oven burner's air shutters.

Kurt, On the orifices there should be paint marks. There will be 2 with yellow/black and should have number 88 stamped on it which will be for the center and left rear burners. There will be 2 with yellow/orange paint and number 116 stamped on it one for the right front burner and one for the left front burner. There will be 1 orifice with a yellow/white paint and number 70 stamped on it which goes to the right rear burner.
