Staci, The most common issue for door lock issues and noises like you described, is usually due to a faulty motor actuator WPW10006355 or a loose connection, the actuator contains sensors and relays information to the control and determines if the lid lock should or shouldn't be locked, if the signal is incorrect the latch can lock or unlock and keep the washer from starting as well as other intermittent operations. .

Jeff, There is no way to bypass the lid lock on this unit. If the lock is not locking then you will need to replace the lock assembly.

Jeff, To install the new latch you will need to raise the main top. To do this you will release a spring clip on either side of the front between the main top and the front panel. You will also need to raise the console which you will use a flat blade on either side under the endcaps to release the spring clip. Lift the console. Disconnect the wiring of the latch and take the screws out of the old latch that are holding it in place. Install in reverse.

Geo, If there is a piece of plastic broken on the latch and the unit fills with water but does nothing else, then you would want to replace the latch W10404050.

Al, There is a check that you will want to do. Tilt the unit back and pull the cover off from the pulley. Check for the screw holding the pulley on is tight. If the screw or nut us loose then you will want to tighten back up but you will want to use loctite to help keep it in place. In the case where this happens the unit will still agitate but will have problems spinning.
