Staci July 18, 2013 for Model Number wtw5550xw2 My washer is locking/unlocking and wont start the cycle...it has made an awful loud grinding noise as well for a few minutes the last few times i used it...what could this be?
1 Answer Staci, The most common issue for door lock issues and noises like you described, is usually due to a faulty motor actuator WPW10006355 or a loose connection, the actuator contains sensors and relays information to the control and determines if the lid lock should or shouldn't be locked, if the signal is incorrect the latch can lock or unlock and keep the washer from starting as well as other intermittent operations. . Jeff April 12, 2013 for Model Number wtw4950xw2 How do you install a new latch in this paticular washer. Part number AP5263307
1 Answer Jeff, To install the new latch you will need to raise the main top. To do this you will release a spring clip on either side of the front between the main top and the front panel. You will also need to raise the console which you will use a flat blade on either side under the endcaps to release the spring clip. Lift the console. Disconnect the wiring of the latch and take the screws out of the old latch that are holding it in place. Install in reverse. Read More...

Al March 14, 2013 for Model Number 110.26002010 lid lock LED flashes as error code. Also had F7 E1 basket speed sensor fault and F7 E7 unable to reach target rpm fault. Cleared these and F7 E1 returned along with flashing lid lock LED. Replaced lid latch no change. will bad shifter/speed sensor set lid latch code or is control board bad?
1 Answer Al, There is a check that you will want to do. Tilt the unit back and pull the cover off from the pulley. Check for the screw holding the pulley on is tight. If the screw or nut us loose then you will want to tighten back up but you will want to use loctite to help keep it in place. In the case where this happens the unit will still agitate but will have problems spinning. Read More...
