John C Cornelia , GA December 24, 2021 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer WTW5000DW1 Whirlpool wtw5000dw1 top loader door would not lock, spin cycle would not function Replaced door latch and switch. Parts are plastic so you must know what you are doing to avoid breaking new parts. Videos were hard to find for my model - eventually I found a video that addressed a different problem but required disassembly of a washer cabinet similar to mine. I removed the control panel using a putty knife and unplugged the wire to the latch switch. Then I remove 3 screws securing the washer's top panel to the back panel. Using a rubber mallet, I gently knocked the top panel forward so it could be lifted up and off the washer cabinet. After I removed the washer's top, it was very easy except the last step of removing the switch from the top. Another video search turned up the solution described in a previous post. Using a screwdriver, tap the switch to the right and it easily falls out of the opening in the machine top. Do the reverse to install the new switch. Everything else is straight forward and easy to figure out. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers

Nancy F Lake Helen , FL July 18, 2016 Appliance: Model MVWX600XWO Maytag bravos washer lid would not lock First I Googled the brand and then went to different sources online to trouble shoot my problem. I felt sure that the problem was with the lid lock assembly. So, I ordered the appropriate parts through AppliancePartsPros...what a great company! I watched several U-tube videos for guidance. It wasn't as easy as the videos demonstrated...the whole top assembly didn't lean back easily...some screws were 'special'...star shaped...kept dropping parts...did it totally by myself (a 65 yr old woman)..but...I did it...it works...I'm estatic!
