Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washer Door Lock Switch Assembly (Part Number: OEM18035460)

1 Answer

Hello Joe! The DS error is indeed an indicator of a failed locking system WP8182634 or control board. Essentially, the lock is telling the control board that it is not locked and the unit shuts it down. I hope this helps!

Hello Ktwenty7. If you pull the tab on the bottom of the door lock assembly, the door will unlock. You can see the tab on the right hand side of the picture on the part page. If it keeps tearing up the door lock assemblys, you will need to check and make sure the latch on the door is not wore, and is closing properly. Hope this helps.

Hello Doug. You will need to check and see if the shocks WP8182703 are wore or broke on the unit. If so, they will need to be replaced. You can remove the front toe panel and the rear access panel to check them. Hope this helps.

Jon C. for Model Number GHW9400PLO

About a year ago we had problems with F-dl and sometimes F-11 or F-14 and the tech came out and switch out a board for $300+, that seemed to work for awhile. Some months later we started having some of the same codes - mostly F-dl and F-du and F-ll. After fiddling with unplugging and manually opening (by pulling the tab) and closing and pushing buttons, sometimes giving it the ol Fonzy combination tap, we have been able to make things work. You can hear a faint click or beep when the lock is trying to engage but won't lock. Sometime if we let it sit overnight and push the button to start and all is well - its working at least for a few load and the back to its same ol tricks. Should I try replacing the door lock? OR . . . Thanks for listening

Hello Joey. You will need to look for a loose connection or bad wire first. If they are all tight and good, then you will need to see if the control panel is sending power properly. Hope this helps.

Stephanie for Model Number ghw9100lw1 worldpool duet washer

After completing numerous loads consecutively on my 7 year old whirlpool duet washer, nothing happens in response to pushing buttons...no error, no numbers...no sounds...nothing. We tried to do a diagnostic test...nothing would turn on...The only thing we get to respond is the control lock goes on and off. We unplugged, let sit and tried again. How do we go about identifying the problem? We recently replaced the drain pump weeks ago, everything seemed to work fine. No other maintenance has been required in the past.

Hello Stephanie. You will need to check and see if there is a loose connection somewhere. Check all the control board connections and make sure they are good and tight. If all the connections are good, you will need to make sure there is power coming to the board. If you have power to the board, but it does not come on, then the board may be bad. Hope this helps.

Charlie, here's the instructions for replacing the door switch assembly. Remember to unplug the power cord first. Access to the door switch requires that the waterseal boot be removed from the front of the washer.Use a flat bladed screwdriver at the location of the retainer spring and pull the retainer forward and then off the perimeter of the boot.Ease the edge of the boot off of the lip of the washer front near the door switch. Remove enough of the boot to gain access to the door switch behind the washer front panel. The door switch is secured to the washer front panel with three screws. Once these screws are removed, the door switch will remain in place until it is lifted slightly and pulled back from the washer front panel. Reverse procedure and test for operation. We hope this helps. Good Luck.
