Hello Gerard. These are not hard to install. You will open the door and remove the spring from around the door boot. Once removed, you will pull back the boot and access the lock assembly WP8182634. You will need to remove the screws securing the lock assembly and unplug the wires going to it. Reinstall with the new assembly in reverse order. Hope this helps.

Hi Rob. Remove lower panel. Reach behind the front panel and the latch has a white "nickel" size tab hanging from the bottom of the latch. Pull this down to unlock and open door. Latch part # WP8182634. Do not be surprised as you still need a main control board part # WP8182695 if the latch doesn't work altogether. Sometimes a bad latch will open the board also. Thank You.

Hello Spring. You will need to test and see if there is power coming to the door lock assembly WP8182634 from the control board. If so, and the door does not lock, replace the door lock. Hope this helps.

Hunter for Model Number Whirpool duet WFW8300S

The washer quit with 1 minute left on timer. Unpluged and pluged back in, put on spin drain, it powers up, door locks but the washer never starts, hit cancel button the add a garment comes on but the door will not unlock. Have a F01 code and a F24 code when I run service history & diagnostic test. When I run the "starting diagnostic test and bypassing the service history mode" all it does is flash the "drain spin" light, again door locks and will not unlock. What part would you suggest.

Hi Al. Installation is fairly simple. Remove power. Then open the door. Remove the spring clamp that holds the front lip of the door bellows/boot on the front panel. Remove the rt. side of the door boot, just enough to fold back and your hand to access the door switch. Take the door latch screws off and unhook the elect. connectors. They are really a snap lock type release and pull off. Mark them so you will put them back correctly on the new switch. The latch part # is WP8182634. Thank you.

Hello Paul. If your latch itself appears to be fine, chances are the door lock/switch assembly WP8182634 has failed or come loose. This would prevent the door from locking and would cause your error. I hope this information helps!

Sandy for Model Number GHW9150PW0 - Duet Washer

I read Joey's comment about striking the upper rear of the washer when I get an F-DL code (door lock fault). I tried it and my washer started after 4 tries - thanks Joey! Question: Is there a danger (electrical?) if I continue to do this? I've had this problem on and off for over a year and I always hear a faint click in the back like Jon C. Prior to today the washer usually started to work after I walked away for a while and then pushed the start button.

Hello Sandy. It is not recommened to do this to the washer. You will need to look for loose or broken wires. If none is found, you will need to replace the control board WP8182695. Hope this helps.
