The Door Spring Link is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This component connects the door spring to the dishwasher door, helping to balance the door's weight and assist in its smooth opening and closing. The door spring link ensures that the door remains properly tensioned, facilitating ease of use and preventing it from dropping open too quickly.

Causes of a bad door spring link can include normal wear and tear, overstretching or breaking due to repeated use, or damage from improper handling during maintenance.

Symptoms of a bad Door Spring Link include:

  • The dishwasher door dropping open too quickly
  • Difficulty in opening or closing the door smoothly
  • A sagging door that does not stay in place
  • Unusual noises when opening or closing the door

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Jerry, You will want to pull the unit out from the cabinet and check the springs to make sure that they are not rubbing against the cabinet causing the popping noise. Something from the springs would be the most likley cause but also check to make sure that the inner door is not catching on the tub which could be a issue with one of the hinges of the unit.

Jim, The door link and door springs are the least likely issue at this point,as is the door gasket. You need to remove the lower spray arm, and check all the jet holes for clogs and debris, and the ends and sides for a hairline crack, Check for the proper water level( after the initial fill and a 5 minute wash cycle, the water leve should be halfway up to slighty above the top of the heat element. Check the door hinges and hinge pins on the frame for being bent. Thanks and Good Luck

Hello Ralph. Disconnect the power to the unit and turn off the water supply. Next remove the toe panel from the bottom of the dishwasher. Remove the junction box cover and disconnect the wires going to the dishwasher. Next remove the water line from the water valve. Now remove the drain hose from under the sink. Once that is complete, you will remove the screws securing the dishwasher to the cabinet. They are usually at the top of the dishwasher, or on the sides. Pull the dishwasher out of the opening. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.
